Čičmany is a breath taking place! Little old wooden houses decorated in traditional way seem just like taken out from some cartoon. Definitely worth to see.

You can find in the village dozens of uniquely ornamented wooden houses. Although the ornaments were changed regularly, thee is a clear pattern how you can find that the house belongs to Cicmany. Ornaments are beautiful because they are simple but contrasting on the black surface of the walls.

I can only recommend this village. There are restaurants, accomodation, church and especially very nice landscape with flocks of sheep, mountains and stream just in the middle of the village.

Unique folk architecture. Traditional decorative motive from Cicmany was used for Slovak national outfit on Winter Olympic games in Sochi 2014. History of this petite village dates back to 1272.

It was snowing when we visited sublime. Village was stunning taking you back in time. Ski resort was very busy surrounding hills spectacular roads a bit hairy definitly need winter tyres on.

you can see a slovak former live style. especially the houses with special white colored lines. it is like visit slovakia one century ago.

This small village is well worth a visit. Although small the painted houses and pastoral setting are fantastic with the village sitting in valley. There are numerous walks into the hills starting from the area. Although small there are a number of restaurants/cafes. Generally a relaxed atmosphere.

I always return to this small picturesque village and always discover something new. There are wooden houses with tematic paintings from calc. It was used also as a muster for national dresses at the Olympic Games in London.In Radenov dom, u can see, how people used to live before - traditions are the best thing, Slovakia can offer!

wooden colored homes located in mountainous area close to Žilina town. Homes are manualy painted from outside.

Yuray Kudjak and his wife Mariella, who run a cafe in Cicmany as well as organising cultural and traditional craft events, made our visit to the village memorable. They both speak good English and were able to explain about the history of the village as well as their plans to make village life more accessible to tourists. This is a Slovakian experience not to be missed.

Nous sommes restés deux jours dans le village malgré le mauvais temps.Le village est très agréable et la région jolie avec des balades à faites autour du village et les thermes de Rajecske à quelques kilomètres.Nous étions à la pension Kacha et l'accueil était juste parfait ! Très chaleureux et même si nous ne parlons pas slovaque et la dame un peu anglais et allemand, on n'a toujours trouvé à se comprendre et elle a toujours été très serviable et à l'écoute, prête à nous aider pour toute question.Nous recommandons fortement !

Отдыхали на курорте в Бойницах, для разнообразия решили самостоятельно съездить в Чичманы. Машину брали на прокат. От Бойниц идет трасса на Жилину, дорога хорошая. Деревня расположена недалеко от трассы в горах, среди живописной природы. Да, самобытные дома (избы), из дерева. Прошлись по главной улице, сделали красивые снимки. Для туристов местное население показывает национальные ремесла и промыслы. Есть сувенирная лавка, небольшое кафе, перекусить, в основном кофе и мороженное.

Dieses Dorf ist einfach sehenswert und wird erstmalig 1276 urkundlich erwähnt. Die wunderschönen alten Holzhäuser mit ihren weißen Ornamenten kann man nur staunend und voller Bewunderung betrachten. Die Muster sind alle unterschiedlich und es ist unmöglich zu sagen, welches schöner ist als das andere. Für eine Rast nach dem Rundgang durch's Dorf empfehle ich die "Pension Katka". Die Speisen sind typisch slowakisch und schmecken vorzüglich.Außerdem spricht die junge und sehr freundliche Besitzerin genug deutsch um sich mit ihr zu verständigen. Die Preise sind so human, daß es sich eigentlich jeder leisten kann, dort zu essen.

Un sogno o una favola, non so come definirlo.Saggiungete questo posto da Zilina proseguendo per Rajec, qualche Km dopo Rajec trovate le indicazioni per Cicmany, percorrete una strada immersa nel verde per 10 minuti e all'arrivo un paesaggio mozzafiato! Un paese che pensavo esistesse solo nei film.
