No one else will because its basically a rubbish tip. Got a Mad Max feel to it and its really a place for young kids to drink cheap booze in a scrap yard and wear grungey clothes. Not my thing but may appeal to others.
A squat in former army barracks. Metelkova is a must for any alternative culture loving traveler. Clubs, concerts, cheap drinks and relaxed atmosphere, reminiscent of Christiania in Copenhagen.
A visit to Metelkova is a must for any alternative culture loving traveler that comes to Ljubljana. Lot's of clubs, concerts and other events. A place where a lot of locals meet. And cheap drinks ;)
maybe I don't know how to appreciate "alternative art" but for me that is a place full of people which lost track in their life.
The place is very different and difficult to describe, one has to see and if you like the street art and colorful artistic stuff, you would definitely want to see this part of the town.
I honestly can not understand what is so special about this place, why tourists desire to visit it...I mean, seriously the only thing you can do here is to take photos of the psychotic sculptures for your instagram. That's it! The place itself poorly constructed and full of garbage, which is called "art". Even the clubs in here are worthless.
A place that you have to see with your own eyes. The contrast between the next door museums and office buildings makes this place even more interesting and shocking.
at day this place is wonderfull for taking pictures of street art, and night is place when all kind of people come and hang out. its realy cool and no -drama- place, so you can chill out and enjoy.
Probably one of the most exciting cultural places in the world. Former prison that was transformed into clubs, galeries, hostel ect is really friendly, colorful and nice.
I had a chance to see it only during our bike tour, stopped there to have a break and it was unfortunately raining, but the place is great for street art photography and to hang out with some friends in the evening, when the bars there are open.
A bit outside the centre, in former barracks that would have been used in a different way, artists squatted there years ago. Plenty of cool up to date works. Well worth the walk out.
I've never been to Denmark but I hear Christiana looks something like that. At night, it's definitely appropriate for people who are a bit edgy. No heels and fancy dressed here. Usually metal and rock music is playing, but there is also an amazing gay bar there with awesome pop music. During the day the atmosphere changes and is appropriate for younger children as well. The whole street is like big artistic gallery. And a bit spooky as well. I would definitely recommend it to all young party goers, definitely not for romantic nights and family trips.
It was closed when we went, but it was still great to see all the street art and alternative architecture. Must be even better at night!
Was nice to see a lot of creative graffiti, we were in the day light just to take a look and pictures of the urban look of Ljubljana.
If you looking for a strange and oddly place in the middle of ljubljana go to metlekova. Its safe place to visit even in the late hours.
