tunnel winery khareba's

An immaculate property. The tunnel was originally built for military use but is now used to store the wines made by Khareba wineries (but not for any production). Car parking is provided directly opposite the visitor entrance in delightful landscaped grounds. During a short wait for the (fluent) English-speaking guide we greatly enjoyed looking over the artwork by the entrance - a fantasy wheeled, flying, (and well armed) sailing ship.It is cool in the tunnel and shawls/ blankets can be borrowed from the reception desk. All very spacious, level, and underfoot is a smooth concrete floor - I would not anticipate any difficulties for anyone with limited mobility, and it is just a short walk to the underground tasting area. There are displays of traditional Georgian wine-making equipment (kvevris etc). Photography is permitted.The wine tasting (at a supplement) is very elegantly done and you can help yourself to nibbles of cheese, apple and bread with oil.

Build in 1959 it is now belongs to Khareba winery. The tunnel add up to 8 km and can hold up to 25 million litters of wine. During Soviet times tunnel was used by all winery's in Georgia.If you just want to visit tunnel the price of entry is 3 GEL per person with an English speaking guide. You can request wine tasting and price will depend on number wines you would like to taste. The winery complex includes restaurant with fantastic view of Alazani valley, however, food and service were disappointing so I would recommend to stick to coffee rather than lunch.

Da vedere.Interamente scavato nella roccia.All'interno ampi corridoi che si estendono per molti metri,forse raggiungono anche il chilometro.Bottiglie d'annata non in vendita ornano il tutto.C'è la possibilità di fare delle degustazioni all'interno del tunnel.Nei piani superiori raggiungibili da un ascensore interno ci sono ristorante e in cima alla torre una veranda che si affaccia sui vigneti.Qui pochi tavoli per un pranzo davvero riservato.Ovviamente il tutto è immerso nel verde,creato ad hoc con installazioni che richiamano l'elemento vino.

Откровенно говоря, не ожидала ничего необычного от экскурсии, но ошиблась. Прекрасно было все: и гид Георгий, который интересно рассказал об этом необычном месте, пробудив интерес к виноделию даже у моей абсолютно равнодушной к вину подруги. И про местную технологию виноделия мы узнали, и про отличие от традиционной европейской, и продегустировали 2 великолепных вина. Время экскурсии пролетело незаметно. Осталась очень довольна и не жалею потраченном времени.Рекомендую!

В целом понравилось, только нам дали продегустировать только 5 видов вин при ассортименте не менее 20. Как не странно, но местный рецепт приготовления вина вместе с виноградным жмыхом не впечатлил. Традиционное вино понравилось больше. Магазинчик принимает к оплате банковские карты.
