这里真是一个奇妙的地方!洞中有洞,入口也特别,当时的建造者真有很好的构思!用来逃辟敌人的方法也很好。

It´s hidden from the common traveler path, but it is a precious historical Gem that can not be avoided when visiting Georgia.Very close to Gori and right in the middle of the ancient region of Kartli...One of the most ancient settlements in Georgia and one exceptional sample of a settlement built within a cave complex. The new museum is included in the entry fee and is very interesting to visit prior to the walk into the cave town.Without a doubt... One other wonderful reason to return to Georgia !!!

Absolutely you have to see this place. Ancient stone city. I spent about 2 hours to walk over. I think that it is goog to be there in Oct or Nov. It may be difficult to walk here in the mid season high temperatures.

Just a short distance from Gori, this site is interesting for historic and scenic values and is worth the visit.

We arrived mid afternoon and there were a number of large coach parties already there, this would be unremarkable elsewhere in the world but is not the norm in Georgia where you usually have things pretty much to yourself. It is only 3 Lari for an adult to get in so great value. You have full access to the whole site (elsewhere most of this would all be fenced off) so you really get the feel of the place. However this does mean that some people have had to leave their mark on the place which is a real shame for the rest of us. One note of caution, the site is on a hill side with a long flight of stairs in and out and the ground is uneven so you need to be pretty mobile on your feet.

This was a lovely place to visit, very interesting history, beautiful location and constructions & so clever how it was created. We didn't use a local guide but just wandered and only on the way out saw the museum. It is on the left just past the entrance and i would suggest you visit it first before venturing up the hill - they run a video on a loop with English subtitles that explains the history. Definitely wear practical shoes - we saw a lady in high heels really struggling. It is a great place to wander and just soak up the history and uniqueness. The only downside for me was the children running everywhere, with no regard for the monuments they were treading on or their safety.... even the security guard was getting seriously concerned about them.Definitely worth a visit if you are in Tbilisi with some time to get out.

Nice atraction. City in rocks (caves). Some caves in rocks which looks very good. Lot of reptiles walking there, it's also interesting. YOu can get ther grom Gori by local bus or taxi. If you go by bus then after get off from bus you have to walk a little (around 2 km).

Nicebody

This was one of the most pleasant surprises I had in all my 150 country visits. Since it is not in Tbilisi proper, but in Gori (about an hour or so away), I did not even know it existed. It is an absolutely amazing city literally cut into the mountain. The ride to get here is incredibly scenic. Do this outing at all costs!

Well of the beaten track, but definitely worth a visit.Quite an amazing place - it was once a city of 7,000 people, living in caves carved out of the mountain. You can see the remnants of an old city - the large public buildings (including several churches and a theatre), as well as shops and residences. Reminded me of Pompeii. You can wander around yourself, but we used a local guide - would definitely recommend that. They have all the knowledge and the history.Nearest town is Gori - location of the Stalin museum.

Had never heard of this place until we practically chanced upon it on a visit to the area. It is totally amazing - one of the most stunning places I have visited. We used a tour guide - a local girl with a college degree who spoke excellent English, and had tremendous knowledge of the history of the city. I would totally recommend using a tour guide; its not expensive, and really adds to the experience.Don't miss it

Georgia has a lot of attractions. For the most of them you should bring your drink, food and you also should have a bush or tree in mind where to pee. Uplistsikhe is different. You could even get an USA National Park feeling. Parking place, a little museum, guides to hire, toilet even somehow clean, a little restaurant and even a meeting room are available. Not to talk about the place itself which is pure history. Situated at the old Silk Road the place was inhabited for about 3000 years and you can see and feel it. From Tbilisi an hour by car it can be a nice day tour either together with Gori or with Mtskheta

Definitely worth-visiting.The best place in Georgia or at least from those I have seen.In short,it's a rock town, surrounding is amazing, and what's more it's still not so popular with the tourist so if you are lucky you can enjoy the view with few people only. Go there now when it's not so crowded.

We went here after going to the Stalin Museum. It took us just about 20mins to reach the place and the view near the caves is amazing. Uplistsikhe literally means "the lord's fortress". The caves are fascinating and you'll wonder how they were able to preserve it. Before going to the caves, we watch a small informative video inside the museum about its history and it's really interesting. I felt like i'm inside one of the Game of Thrones set. :) Make sure to wear rubber shoes, sneakers or flat shoes as it's a bit of a hike going through the caves.

Go for it. Beautiful trip, fantastic views. If possibile go down to see ruins of small stone houses. Little museum on side has only few things...
