you will never stop visiting cathedrales in Brussels!you have to visit all of those georgous buikding!where i discoverd how they buikd it with art, determination!many statues!many decoration!just go there and enjoy it!
I really liked the facade. Apart from the one row of statues just above the door line, I found the facade uncluttered - this is really unusual! -- and no rose window for a change. The stairs leading up to the front doors - lifts the whole building. Those poor builders - 300 years to finish, - and had to bring the stone from 45 kms away!I liked the 12 apostles above the congregation - it made them part of it. The new organ, only been there since 2000, - again on the side - different. I was not a fan of the pulpit - it looked a real mess.Brian, from Perth. W. Australia.
magnificent place to visit, the size of this beautiful building is breathtaking when you walk up the hill and stand at the doors! The stain glass really captured my eye when inside.
Go see it! This is absolutely beautiful. We walked around and took pictures of the place (though we didn't go inside!)
Very ancient structures, extremely big! I was overwhelmed by the interior, artistic and attractive glass work and curvings inside. There was a great lot of mystery attached to the Cathedral and there are many stories about it.
Was able to not only visit this Cathedral but also attend mass during Lent on a Saturday evening. Huge statues, incredibly beautiful ceilings, pillars, and stained-glass. My favorite building in Brussels and that is certainly saying something.
Definitely a POI (place of interest) that visitors to Brussels need to see. The building was very impressive!
A very peaceful and very beautiful place to have a quick look around while in the centre of Brussels. I wanted to see where members of the Belgian royal family wed and have their funerals and enjoyed my visit lots. The cathedral is huge and has stunning stained glass windows and side chapels to explore. The pulpit half-way down the nave is one of the most beautiful things you will ever see. Entry is free, but for one or two euros (I can't remember which) you can see the well-preserved remains of the original towers of the cathedral from the Middle Ages in the basement! This was quite exciting for a history buff like me!
We dropped by on a Sunday and we're supposed by the scale of the Cathedral. With its twin towers and size it reminded us of the Notre Dame, though the location is less nice. Inside the stained glass windows steel the show with their very detailed depiction of famous scenes. The rest of the interior has that slightly more sobre flavour.
The building from outside looks really great!Tall, massive, interesting. Not so from inside... Nothing to write home about... Stone walls and not too many impressing sculptures. Some nice windows... but this is it...
We did not realise how close the Cathedral was to our hotel. Lovely cathedral but there were too many "modern" buildings in the surrounding area. Cathedral itself is very typical of a European cathedral. You can pay a Euro to go underneath to look at the foundations of the original building. Well worth the money with lots of detail.
I am not a cathedral fan - usually too cold and uninviting but this one is breathtaking and had a sense of calm about it. Worth a visit.
