Special building in an architectural way, more special on the outside than on the inside. But that's it. It's an exhibition centre, nothing more. If You want to see more than the entrance You have to pay. Not worth the long walk from the old city centre.

Excellent idea for a relatively provincial town to host a modern and attractive facility like the Centre Pompidou. Challenging architecture from both outside and inside. The Centre is well laid out able to host in style large artifacts and its temporary expo on Simple Forms was a real intellectual and artistic pleasure. Chapeau.

I just loved France. It is only a few hours from Paris making it a great place to stay over before you fly out from Paris. This way you can relax and enjoy French flavour and still be at the airport. There is such a wide expanse of the square we strolled around the centre ate from a variety of places and loved the shopping. What a great place

Our second visit to this impressive building we liked even more than the first. Especially the exposition "simple figures" was a beautiful combination of ancient art (uptill 4000 years before Christ) and modern art. Really worth a visit!

We like a good art gallery but we certainly didn't find it here expensive and not a lot in there the top floor was an enormous room which was supposed to be amazing views of Metz I imagined it to be art work photos etc but the room was empty except for white walls and boards with nothing on them the views were what you could see out of the huge windows

This "small" museum located in a secondary town proposes artists and exhibitions on an international level. Its collections come from the Pompidou Center in Paris. Due to the very high ceilings you can see huge formats that you hardly can see elsewhere. (Unfortunately you lack some distance to fully appreciate). There was also an interesting interactive musical installation which open your senses. A third exhibition with an original transversal point of view on art and traditional crafts was quite interesting also. The architecture of the museum itself is spectacular and worth to see. So you come out with something more in your mind.

Centre Pompidou-Metz quickly become one of the beautiful city's best attractions! You can just enjoy the impressive building, or visit the expositions. I found the one on "paparazzis" very interesting!

I visited Centre Pompidou Metz with my wife just for the experience. At the ticket booth, the entrance fee to the museum was shown as >10EUR, which may have included the joiner cost to the special exhibition on that day. Anyway, since we thought the cost was expensive, we decided just to eat sandwich with ham on the ground floor, where we did not need to pay the entrance fee. Even though the café area was a bit cold, more than 5 groups were sitting and relaxed on the table. Regardless of entering the museum or not, it is recommended to come here, the trendy place in Metz.

I went to this museum during my study abroad trip, and absolutely loved it. It's not as big as the one in Paris, so it's like a little brother of the main one, but still really impressive. I'm a huge art geek, and found a lot of the pieces really interesting. Some of them were too abstract and I heard people walking out being really unimpressed with art pieces. Make sure you go online and check out some of the exhibits before you come in, so you know what you are paying for. Also if you have a student card you get in for free:)

Impressivs architecture. Tres joli batiment. Expositions at the time not very interesting - not worth the price. Expo pas tres interessantes, pas a la hauteur du prix.

The Metz branch of the Pompidou is a short walk through a tunnel next to the railway station. The building is very original, very modern and very impressive, particularly from the inside. From the third floor windows there are some great views of the city of Metz.The entrance fee varies as to the number of exhitions showing. I was annoyed that the main exhibition that I had seen widely advertised did not open for a couple of months, so the top floor was empty. On floors 1 and 2 there were two very disappointing exhibitions (I was not at all impressed with the museum curation - totally unrelated pieces thrown together).Had it not been for the ground floor, we would have left feeling very grumpy and ripped off. Fortunately there are some really great pieces by Picasso, Leger, Joan Miro, Frank Stella and Richard Delaunay - huge monumental pieces of work, which really suit the expansive spaces of this gallery.Check out the exhibition specs carefully before paying to enter the gallery - this is a superb space for the right exhibition.

fabulous space...superb art...ample parking...large art pieces in a serene setting ...it does depend on whats on but i loved the joan miro painting that attacked my senses when i entered....and i loved the interactive music making singing bowls just inside the entrance ..everyone had a go...the cafe was delightful too...

We went to visit an exposition in this museum and did not visit the rest. We liked the architecture a lot. The museum is close to the railway station.

I found Centre Pompidou Metz much more beautiful than the horrific counterpart in Paris although it is not my cup of tea. There were three galleries opened. In the first gallery it was in the ground floor and it was full of big formats, huge paintings from well-known artists. The second space was devoted to the art of the eighties and nineties, which was dull and boring. The third space was the best. The exhibition was called "Formes simples". it was a very informative and detailed review of the use of geometry in Arts. For example, the use of mathematics in arts; imitation of nature, the human body, etc. In my opinion it was the best of the three galleries. I liked the way they mixed ancient art with contemporaneous art in order to provide a context. They also have a very chic terrace were you can buy drinks ans snacks. I would recommend to ask for a glass of sparkling water with sirop.

This is an interesting outpost of the Centre George Pompidou in Paris. The exhibit we saw featured very large canvases which are rarely displayed because of their size. The exhibit and the museum in general were well laid out and interesting. The building is amazing and is a good complement to what's inside. The museum staff was also very helpful when we had question on other locations we were planning to visit. Definitely worth adding to an itinerary.
