Loved the village - charming - and "its" park (a pay to enter attraction but very idyllic, very atmospheric). We were directed to visit this village by a Parisian couple we met at a wedding reception hosted in a nearby chateau. We visited on a drizzly July day and enjoyed the beauty despite the gray skies. The village had a few other tourists visiting that day but we felt like we had the park grounds largely to ourselvesI am not aware whether you can picnic on the park grounds but there is a atmospheric strolling path along the Allier river, outside of the park, that would make for fine picnicking - come prepared to seize the opportunity.
This is a first class "worth seeing" opportunity ...a very beautiful garden and with very nice buildings in the scenery ...absolutely a visit worth on a sunny day in France!! Try It...
Beautiful gardens in a perfect riverside village. It's a pity that no one can visit the chateau but as a picnic location and say trip it can't be faulted. The restaurant in nearby le Grenouille is AWFUL with a capital A, so don't be tempted even if it looks nice. Bring a picnic and sit down by the river Allier.
If this garden reflects the soul of his creator, it certainly was the one of a poet. The gardens are simply breathtaking. A peacefull heaven. I do not want to describe it more. Just go and enjoy!
It's a beautiful place, plenty of beautiful flowers, fragrant bushes and trees. It was the blossom peak season, every single plant was covered with flowers and the scents landscape wasn't less impressive than the views landscape.A very well kept site. The ticket for the floral park is valid for the small adjacent museum as well. There is an electronic gate at the entrance and all you have to do is to type the code you received with your ticket.A part of the museum is dedicated to the engineer and architect Gustave Eiffel - the designer and builder of the most famous tower in the whole world, the Eiffel Tower in Paris. There is also an exhibit of chariots. In the museum's garden, there is an exhibit of large photographs of beautiful sites from all over the world, exhibited on large boards. We enjoyed that place and we recommend.
A visit to this beautiful garden takes you to the exceptionally charming village of Apremont-sur-Allier. The garden is set around picturesque lakes and an impressive cascade. The setting includes residential houses and cottages which give a nice balance to the grander scale of the whole park with its magnificent trees and pavilions. If you visit when the roses are in bloom, you can’t help but find the experience totally enchanting. Entry via the shop needs to be before 12.30pm or after 2.00pm, so plan your arrival accordingly. Also allow time for a stroll around the village and down to the river which will confirm Apremont-sur Allier’s place as one of France’s loveliest villages.
The flower park was beautiful in May. Very relaxing and inviting to enjoy a short afternoon. We bicycled about 2 1/2 miles from our canal boat to Parc Floral d'Apremont--it was worth it.
A superb garden in an interesting restored village. Well worth it if you are in the area.Be aware that the entrance closes over lunch and finding your way out is not clear,
The garden is beautifully planted, mostly white in late summer. The village has a beautiful setting on the banks of the Allier.if you can sit on the terrace the cafe is really nice for lunch- not so nice inside!
This garden exceeded expectations. The layout and planting are outstanding. We visited at a prefect time of the year with the irises, alliums, azaleas, rhododendrons and viburnums in full flower. The trees are magnificent..many specimen trees, beautiful acers. The cascades and lakes are wonderful and again the planting is outstanding. Please do not miss this garden. The town itself is enchanting and well worth a visit.
