A colourful place, which is a must when you visit Lille. So much history, architecture, food choices, etc.
Drop dead gorgeous. Rows and rows of streets with boutiques. Its a shoppers dream. Excellent and do not miss it for anything
This historic part of town is full of architectural gems, yet also full of trendy boutiques and restaurants. The cobbled streets add to the attraction and the Navette bus serves the area, but all is easily reached from the centre on foot.
From the cobbled, narrow alleys to the restaurants of Rue de agent, there is so much to see and do. Busy all day. Atmospheric. Thriving bars with sometimes 11 draught beers from which to choose, especially Rince Cochon. So many "one of" shops to entice visitors. We need a bigger case!
I like to walk around the Vieux Lille. You have such a great atmosphere.Old houses, small streets, a lot of shops, restaurants and cafes.
The narrow old streets are a treasure trove of cobbled streets and lovely buildings. The café lined squares are also a treat and I would imagine that they would even better during the warmer weather.
The architecture is fantastic, lovely little streets. Very cool shops. Great market on a Sunday. Must visit
Old Lille, with narrow streets, lovely cafés and little shops, cobbled streets and a wonderful variety oh buildings is a wonderful way to pass an hour or two. It has a friendly feel too, matched by meeting friendly people.
Lots of cobbled stoned nooks and crannies to explore - unique shops and cafes and bars all add up to make this part of Lille really worth a visit.
We stayed in Lille for two days and we didn't expect it to be so much fun! Make sure you visit the Modern Art Museum!
I have been in Lille a week and have visited this area four times at around three hours per visit.Great old buildings, lovely shops, many restuarants and bars, cobbled streets and very flat!Very flat is good as you do not have to feel exhausted after three hours or so of walking.Amazing boulangeries! As much as I love Paris I have ask myself why I have not spent more time in Lille (I was only here once to catch a train to Paris after having been driven here from Ghent in Belgium some eight years ago). Please visit Lille you will not be disappointed-you will be missing out on a great city if you don't.Excellent Metro (trains a bit short-especially on a Saturday afternoon).I look forward to my next four weeks here with relish! Very friendly folks too!Maybe Marseille next?
We rented an apartment in the old town and had an excellent stay. Fabulous buildings to see and great food and drink to be had in lots of lovely restaurants and patisseries.
Visited Lille during a trip to France in late fall. I simply cannot imagine why Lille is not even listed in some of the American tour books for France. The old town section of this city is marvelously preserved - not "old" since it has been kept up with pride, but maintained with all new and updated building meticulously preserving the feel and sense of a much older city. This area is a pleasure to walk in, has a great range of nice shops for shopping and many pleasant sidewalk cafes and bars for enjoying a moment by the square. I find the area most charming at night when all the lights come on.
Lille hosts a lot of nice clothing and food shops. It is fun to walk the cobbled stoned little roads.
The old cobbled streets and Flemish architecture make wandering in Le Vieux Lille a pleasant experience. If money is no object, there are many wonderful boutiques, designer and independent shops for a great shopping spree.
