Beautiful medieval castle in a magical place. A place to imagine the ancient life. Like a movie scenario, magical place to go. Try to travel on summer or end of spring, because it's cold over there!

Very well maintained fort on a spectacular coastline.TIP: In august there often is a Mediëval Show :)

A quite stunning fort located on the edge of the sea. When you round the corner you are greeted by the most amazing view. My 9 and 6 year olds were almost overcome with excitement. Some of the walkways and vistas could scare some people and I would not let my kids go up the last steps to the highest point but the views are amazing and the history is everywhere. Great couple of hours entertainment. Highly recommend.

We visited after lunch one afternoon in May, with our 20 month old son. There were plenty of cars in the car park (where we had our picnic) but it didn't feel particularly crowded down at the fort. It's a ten minute walk from the spacious parking area to the fort, which is fairly steep on the way back up. Inside the fort, there are a lot of steps and uneven areas so little children will be better off in backpacks than buggies. There are lovely views from the fort and the structure itself is interesting. A bit more information would have been appreciated in some areas. Our son thoroughly enjoyed watching the lizard population in the courtyard too.

There is a lot of walking from the car park but it is worthwhile. The guides don't speak English but that is not a problem as most areas have a notice on display which is also in English. We arrived at 10.30 when it was not too crowded but by the time we got back to the car park at 12.30 it was packed. Worth a visit.

We spent just under 2 hours visiting this place. The tour guide was particularly interesting with a lot of useful information about the fort and its history. Some places in the fort are difficult to access with narrow stairs, especially the top tower that is essentially one-way with a low rope as railing. Kids were bored half way through but adults will enjoy the sumptuous views and history of this place.

We managed to coincide our visit with the festival taking place which had traditional music, stalls, birds of prey and chevaliers. It really helped bring the fort to life, although it did get very busy! Lovely views from every angle especially the very top of the fort - not good for those who don't like heights!Good morning spent soaking in some history!

I visited this Fort on the recommendation of a very helpful French man who taught English who kindly helped me in a supermarket. My family was busy and didn't want to visit with me, so I went on my own. This is the place where the Douglas Film "Vikings" was filmed. There wasn't much information provided but it was very pretty and beautifully situated. On a clear day you could see for miles out to sea. Well worth a few hours visit.

My wife and I spent a great morning at Fort La Latte. it is very interesting and well worth a visit. There is quite a long walk down to the Fort and a lot of climbing inside so I would caution those with mobility issues to have a look at it first. The Fort is in a beautiful location and you can climb (quite precarious) to the very top of the tower - fantastic!

The Fort has great views and great hiking especially if you take the path from Cap Frehel. I can't say it was the best fort we have ever been too but the views alone made it worth the while.

Have wanted to go to this castle for some years now and it didn't disappoint. The castle is a little off the beaten track and thankfully not commercialised. After a steeply sloping approach path, we were rewarded with a view of this lovely castle, balanced on the edge of the cliffs overlooking the sea.The castle itself is quite small, but carefully restored with lovely medieval herb and flower beds within the walls. The views from the towers are impressive and well worth making the effort to visit.

Fort La Latte was constructed in the thirteenth century by the family Goyon de Matignon. Keep and living quarters date from the first half of the fourteenth century. In 1597 the stronghold was captured and heavily damaged by the troops of the catholic duke of Mercoeur. Only the keep survived unscathed. From 1689 onward Louis XIV had the fortress restored and significantly modified in order to accommodate several gun batteries. At present visitors can explore Fort La Latte with the help of several information panels or take part in an excellent guided tour (lasting about 45 minutes). A leaflet with its history is for purchase at the ticket office. We warmly recommend a visit to the Fort for the following reasons :Gwendal proved an outstanding guide, kind an knowledgeable, with a passion for the subject. He illustrated the basics of fortification and siege with the help of the buildings on site, familiarized us with the layout of the Fort and provided interesting background about its turbulent history. Questions were welcome and answered with a smile. The Fort has some original features which I had never seen before in any other castle, like the keep with its conic roof or the oven to heat cannon balls. The Fort in itself is very picturesque and its gun terraces and keep offer fine views of the surrounding bays.

We visited Fort La Latte, as it was the location of a favourite film of ours ('The Vikings' 1958) but this is a magical place, even if you don't know the movie. The castle is on a headland, and constructed of pink granite, which, on a sunny day, makes an amazing picture, against the the distinctive, emerald coloured, sea. Access is relatively easy - it certainly isn't as scary as Tintagel, in the UK - but the climb, to the small observation turret on the top of the keep is only for the sure footed, and certainly not for the faint-hearted! Good souvenir shop, fabulous views. We would recommend it to anyone who is even reasonably mobile.

Fort La Latte is on a dramatic site on a spit of land overlooking the ocean, near Cap Frehel, Brittany. There is a half-mile path from the parking lot to the fort itself, and a nominal admission charge. Be aware that the bathrooms are at the parking area, and there are none at the fort. The fort is fun to tour, and there are ramparts to climb on, cannons to see, and lots of picturesque ocean and rocky views.

This was a fantastic fort, with lots to see and do. The views were spectacular, masses for children, although we were just a couple visiting. A huge history and impressive place to visit.
