Part of the lake in Huelgoat. Area best known for its Granit boulders, forests , myphys and legions. Great for walkers. Very near Roscoff.

We stopped in the Foret de Huelgoat after what seemed like a very long journey from the ferry at St Malo. My wife had fond memories of visiting as a child and our children needed some open space, fresh air and exercise -- three things available in abundance in the Foret. The main attractions in the Foret are the rocky outcrops, gorges and natural grottoes which are dotted throughout the landscape, and its fun trying to get the trembling stone to tremble.

A great day out for all the family. Fabulous scenery. We loved "The Devils Grotto"with it challenging climb down!

What's not to like? Humungous boulders, streams disappearing and reappearing from under the rocks, moss-covered trees, trails as long or as short as you want. You can follow the canal from Heulgoat to the old mine, where you see the remains of an old water wheel. The urge to take pictures at every turn slowed me down. This is truly God's country.

Beautiful place! I love it. Great spot for hiking. Do you have hard contact with nature, its wonderful. Great for family too.

The stones are amazing and well worth a visit the mushroom takes a little finding but well worth it.

If you are in the area and have some time to spare it is worth taking a walk over the rocks through the woods. If not in the immediate area I would not go out of your way to visit here. Enter down a footpath on the town side of the bridge at the end of the lake. Allow a couple of hours and remember the way you enter to find your way back. There is a Creperie within the forest. We didn't use it as we had had enough of them elsewhere.

Lovely trails down and along the river amid boulders. Trainers or hiking boots recommended. Would have had a little swim if the weather had been warmer

impressive, how these stones seem to have fallen from the sky... Take good shoes and walk along the river or in the forest, there are a lot of little trails. But be careful, you get lost easily. They should put more indications about how long a walk takes. We came across many people who were as lost as we were. Don't miss the "moving stone" (pierre qui tremble).

I wasn't enthused about going here but it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. The small town is set on a beautiful lake with the forest next to the town at the far end of the lake. There is a path through the forest that is next to the town and it is worth a little hike to see the large rock formations next to the stream.

A beautiful forest, with amazing geological features, and a really magical atmosphere. Pick up a map at the tourist info and allow a couple of hours to see everything - the caves, pools, boulders, the trembling rock and (our personal favourite) the mushroom rock. A lovely day out.

You cannot visit this part of Brittany without taking in this forest at some point. It is beautiful to say the least with leafy glades, some huge tumble-down rocks at various heights and angles, grotto areas, and waterfalls. It is a photographer's dream! There are damsel flies looking for all the world like dancing fairies over the streams. There are a range of bird species to look out for as well.On a hot day some cool can be found beneath the trees. There are picnic benches and a number of creperies and restaurants both in the village of Huelgoat and a couple in the forest itself. Some of the routes would not be suitable unless you are reasonably fit and have good footwear, but it is excellent walking countryside.

This is an amazing place to visit. Photographers will be delighted and so will be anyone who enjoys nature in all its splendour.

Went here with a friend who had a meeting to attend.While he was at the meeting I had a chance to take a wander around the town of Huelgoat, and it is stunning. The lake is a spectacular place and there are several bars and cafes facing onto it.This is a place well worth visiting if you appreciate the tranquility and beauty of the Breton landscape

Lovely place to escape, walk, get back to nature and wander in. Amazing rocks of huge sizes!! Lovely little cafe too in a real sun trap. Children must love it here to play in. I would suggest though very sensible footwear as it's slippy in places and very uneven. Great place.
