We started driving on D201 and followed the signs to Port-Mer Cancale. As you head down the steep hill towards the beach, there is free parking on the right (and down by the beach as well). Walk north along the beach and you can pick up the trail where the beach ends. After a short hike, you will see a German WWII gun in a concrete bunker. You then walk past a campground and begin to enjoy the most spectacular views as you walk the trail out to La Pointe du Grouin. It is hard to put into words but the pictures say it all - beautiful blue water and rugged coastline. Please see this if you can - you won't regret it.
Depending on the weather, this is a great walk to take... the view is beautiful and you get some slight splashes from the sea :) In high season, this gets a bit crowded, but still worth it. Ideal for a walk before eating some delicious oysters
from the end of this sea point you have a marvelous view on the Mont St Michel bay.The sunset was really beautifull
Awesome views! Even on a day with little breeze it was spectacular, note to self - return on windy day!
We had dinner last week at this place: One of the best restaurants we visited last two weeks.Kitchen, service, ambience, all at its best, not even the smallest thing to complain about.
at each and every moment this is a nice place to visit. Nature at its best. Take care when the wind is blowing full force!
This is part of a beautiful coastline between St Malo and Cancale - the whole coastal route is well worth travelling. There are many very attractive beaches especially Anse du Verger, which has great sand and dunes.
If you are staying in Cancale, Saint Malo or other It is a nice break from castles and tourist shop filled French towns .There is a small restaurant in the park and bathroom facilities. A great spot for a picnic lunch.
Nice point of view, 300 degrees sea. Parking place near, even a restaurant. Easy 5min drive from Cancale. Sundowner. Good view on the rocky small islands around.
Take the Route de la Baie from Cancale to St. Malo and you will find this beautiful area of rocky cliffs, hidden beaches and stunning scenery. Little paths take you down onto beaches tucked between the black rocks - we had them all to ourselves sometimes. Lovely views out to sea and along the Emerald Coast to Mont St. Michel.
A great spot to stop for half an hour or half a day. Many people had brought picnic blanket and breads and were laying in the sun. The walks are beautiful and easy. Lots of places have steep cliff faces so need to be mindful and keep smaller children in check. Lovely piece of a nature reserve. Two restaurants and a souvenir shop there too.
Came across this lovely little area by mistake and decided to park and walk around - was a very pleasant interlude - great scenery and a little history thrown in...We liked the look of the hotel and restaurant and came back in the evening for dinner - that was an even better idea!
Absolutely stunning. Definitely leave time for the walk long the coast (or at least part of it). The walk is not too difficult and clearly marked, but we went in the pre-season and cannot even imagine the crowds and the parking during high season.
Well worth a visit, parking was OK and a lovely walk past the Hotel and Café Bar around the Pointe; stunning views and some sheer drops! Coffee at the café looking out over the sea very relaxing. Could perhaps get busy in the summer months.
A stroll along the coast, fresh oyster from the stalls... Cancale is a beautiful place. Inevitably it is a bit touristy near the cluster of restaurants. Do venture a bit further away from the crowd, and indulge yourself with postcard-like scenery.
