Although we visited the parc on a rainy day , we loved it!My 10 years old daughter enjoyed the show with many kind of birds, from falcons to pelicans.We loved the very shy wolf feeding, although it looked more like a dog ;-)I advise to spend a full day and wear good shoes for walking! Unlike Thoiry Park, you will not use your car at all.The parc is clean and we could have lunch near the African area without waiting too long, but that was maybe due to the rain ( it may be push more crowdy on sunny days)

Never seen animals in such amazing condition. Parc is simply fantastic. Fine for children and adults. Bird display is well worth watching.

We had a great day out at Branfere during our holiday to Carnac. My two daughters (7 & 9) really enjoyed the whole day. The animals are so well looked after & appear in very natural environments. The bird show is the best we have seen anywhere & the high ropes type course absolutely crazy but great fun. If you are in the area don't miss!

We regularly go to the area on holidays, and always make a visit to Branfere while we are there. The kids talk about it even before we depart form the UK!The previous reviews already cover most of what there is to say, I just wanted to add yet another positive review and encourage other visitors to go there. We typically arrive in time to picnic early on the outside, and then spend the afternoon there (which, by the way, is a mistake, we never have enough time to do everything). The Parcabout area (large, VERY large trampolines hanging trom treetops over the path) is a massive hit with the kids, and easily swallows 2 hours of each of our visits. The bird show is a must, and my tips would be: avoid the first show after lunch as it gets very crowded and the last show of the day as it seems to display fewer birds, and do try to sit at the very front even if on the floor. Many birds fly low just there, or walk around the area. With regards to cost, I think the cheapest prices are found online, in their "coffrets" section. We paid 54€ for 2 adults and 2 children, which I think is reasonnable for such a day out. You don't need a printer, only an email address: they will send you a reference number, just write it on a piece of paper (or your front-head) and bring that with you on the day. Note: on busy days the animals get over-fed pop-corn, so they need to restrict the pop-corn intake. As a result, the only people guaranteed to get some are those who purchased it online, so I'd really recommend doing that. 1 bag of pop-corn per 2 children is more than enough (although getting more is always fun!). The "interactive area", where you get swamped by pop-corn-frenzied mini-goats, is riotously funny. After that, try to see everything (you probably won't in a day, especially if you take your time to enjoy yourselves), especially the feeding if you can time it. If you hurry, at the moment the siamang and gibbon monkeys have tiny babies, they are SO cute!

We visited Branféré on our recent trip to Brittany and were very impressed. Our three-year-old was captivated by the 30-minute bird show, and it was not a problem for him that he could not understand the commentary. He loved feeding popcorn (purchased on-site) to the wallabies and all the animals appeared to have a lot of room to roam. One thing which makes this animal park stand out is "Parcabout", which I understand was refurbished for the 2014 summer season. It is effectively a series of large trampolines suspended in the treetops and it was brilliant fun, not least as there was no additional charge for it. I've never been on anything like it, and would love to go back to do it again.My top tip: purchase your tickets at the tourist office in Muzillac to receive a discount, and get there early so you can spend the whole day there.

We have visited this Parc on a couple of occasions now and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a wildlife park as against a zoo, with many animals roaming freely (obviously not any dangerous ones), so don't be surprised if you meet up with wallabies, llama, parrots, lemurs, etc. Even surprised to have a pelican stroll over and stand quite happily with us!In the grounds of a small chateau, the Parc is beautifully laid out and the animals, even those in enclosures, had plenty of room to roam around in.You can buy popcorn to feed to many of the animals and it is so lovely to be able to do this, interacting with wildlife in this way. Not something you really get to do in British zoos but the French seem to encourage it with many of their zoos, depending on the animals. Feeding giraffes, wallabies, etc. by hand is fantastic!As in many French zoos, the primates are on islands, with lots of trees to climb, ropes and swings to play on. The bird show is great, with examples of all kinds of species - birds of prey, parrots, storks, pelicans, flamingos, ibis, and more - just flying or walking into the arena, some giving demonstrations of their skills. Downside...if you don't speak French, you won't understand a word of it, which is a shame as the presenters are enthusiastic, passionate and full of interesting facts about the birds. Still worth going to see though, just to watch the birds. Recommendation to the Parc: just a few key facts about each bird in English would have been great and, with the majority of visitors being either French or English-speaking, I am sure would have been appreciated.There are feeding times at some of the animal enclosures and keepers giving facts about the animals when they are there (again in French), if you can time your visit appropriately.Only had an ice cream each at the little café there but they served other snacks, etc. too. There is also a restaurant, a crêperie and various snack bars around the Parc. We had our lunch outside the Parc before going in and I gather they won't let people in to eat their own food but there are picnic areas outside. You get a stamp on your arm to permit you to leave the Parc and then re-enter if you wish.It cost us about €50 to get in (two adults and a child), which is quite expensive but we had such a lovely day it didn't worry us.Towards the end of route around the Parc there is the massive Parcabout area, consisting of high-level net walkways and net canopies to bounce on (like huge trampolines) up in the trees. Great fun for all ages and well worth allowing time for. There is an area for under 6 year olds too.Well worth a visit to this Parc. Beautiful surroundings, lovely animals to look at and to interact with at times and a great day out (would allow around four hours for a decent visit).

We took our 5 year old twin girls to this zoo while we were on holiday in the area. The queue to get in was quite long but once we were in, it didn't feel crowded at all. We decided to eat in the restaurant at the entrance before we started our visit as we'd read on here that the snack bar inside the zoo gets really busy. Lucky we did this as when we went past the snack bar, there was a massive queue for it. The animals looked well cared for and had lots of room to roam around. My girls especially loved feeding popcorn to the wallabies!! They weren't too keen on the bouncing nets but my husband and I loved them!! A great family day out and would definitely recommend it!!

This is not a great zoo- but that is not why you go..... We have been to lots of really fantastic French zoos over the years and this place as a zoo is not great. Animal wize it has cool wallabies roaming loose across the site but it does do big cats for example. The other thing you need to know is that it is really really expensive both to get in and any food/drink etc that you buy when there - we are talking near £60 for a family which is way more than a normal French zoo. Now the reason that so many people have rated this place highly is the 'parcabout' activity - which is brilliant and We all loved it. We have a 5 year old and - 2 year old and I took the 5 year old on the main activity and my wife took the 2 year old on a special smaller version for younger kids. The official age limit is above 6 for the main activity - this is what you are paying your money for so if you or your kids are not into climbing about in nets a tree height or would not pass for 6 then don't go. The golden rule which we didn't realise is that this is what it is all about not the animals really and we should have gone here first then gone to see the animals then had another go at the end- so go straight for the 'parcabout' when you arrive. They also don't let you take in food( picnic area outside) their own food has long queues (August ) and then half hour waits for the food to arrive - eat before you go in or go out and return with a hand stamp.

We had a lovely trip to the Branfere Zoo. It was in a beautiful setting, the animals had lots of room to roam round in, and looked well cared for. There were lots of places to get food, though if you were having a picnic you had to leave the park (but you get stamped so you can go back in after). There was a lovely play area for kids and a lovely little petting farm as well.

Walking over the top of everyone on the nets was the highlight of our visit here. Animals all looked after very well indeed and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

Great for kids and adults. Plenty to see and do with good restaurant choices and very eco-friendly facilities.The animals seem very well cared for and the displays by the wild birds are brilliant.The nets, where you can climb up and see the park for about 30 feet up, were very popular: though I was a bit scared with the bouncing , my grandson loved it! Great play area with bouncing net arrangements for different ages.The feeding area with the goats can be a bit frightening for small children and the animals are very persistent.The restaurant options are super for families with lots of choice.Shop is nice too.

Had a great day out here. The climbing nets/tree top trail were such a hit with our 2 children (4 and 7) and we parents enjoyed them too! I have not laughed so much in ages although I was initially a bit scared of the height. The trouble was, dragging them off to see the animal attractions. Loved the cage free enclosures and the various different animals. The walking trails didn't seem to have enough cross paths though so trying to get to different parts of the park involved lots of walking. The bird show was amazing, I have never seen pelicans in a bird show before!You can't eat your own food inside, but you can sit outside the cafes and eat?!? Not really sure what that is about. My only criticism is that the keepers' talks were far to gabbled for non-French speakers to try and comprehend. I wish they could have slowed down a bit. We were there from midday to 7pm and still didn't get round to seeing everything. Good value for money!

We had an excellent day out at Branfere - the weather wasn't brilliant, but there is plenty of tree cover - so that made it ideal. There are some strange rules on picnicing - there is an area near the entrance where you can eat your own food, elsewhere in the park it's strictly prohibited. We didn't realise this at first, and had a couple of dodgy looks from the locals when we sat down to eat our sandwiches!. In a couple of areas there are kids play type items with what can only be described as a rolling barrel on its side with pictures on it - you spin the barrel to be able to see the different pictures. MIND YOUR FINGERS THOUGH! - My 4 year old caught her's quite badly and rather spoilt the day to some extent. check out the fish near the end of the route of the park - they loved being fed the popcorn!. Overall we had an excellent day - saw giraffes, zebras, red pandas etc I guess the cost compares well with a UK zoo, but price felt a bit steep.

Natural, cage-free zoo with good range of animals and plenty just roaming in public areas. Los of places to picnic, choice of on site restaurants and cafes. We all enjoyed the parcabout nets in the trees. A good day out and worth the money

We visited in peak season with our two sons (August 2013), and very much enjoyed the park. There were lots of people there and although the park was big enough not to feel overcrowded the restaurant facilities couldn't cope at all. We tried to have a quick lunch at the creperie but had to wait 35 mins in a queue to place and order and a further 45 mins for the mains to arrive and another 15 min for dessert. The staff were doing their absolute best but they were only two people (one taking orders and doing drinks and one to make all the crepes) to deal with a huge number of customers. This meant we wasted 2 hours of our visit on a basic crepe lunch and had a very over hungry cranky toddler as a result! The queue at the snack bar was apparently even worse as someone told me in line. In summary, I would recommend the park but advise bringing a picnic in peak season!
