"We found out about this place through the France show in London and decided to follow it up. We booked a long weekend in carcassonne and a trip round the vineyard with a meal. We really didn't know what to expect and we're really surprised by the warm welcome we received! The evening started with a glass of wine in the family kitchen with liz followed by a tour round the vineyard sampling many more wines. Dinner was served in the living room round the table with the other guests. There was no menu, more like a family meal with many delicious courses, all accompanied, of course, by joes fantastic wines. This was a completely different experience to an ordinary restaurant and one not to be missed!!! Thank you joe and liz"
We have visited OVineyards many times. We have a holiday home about 45mins away, and always take anyone staying with us to this vineyard. What great wines! They far exceed expectations for Languedoc wines, and Joe's passion and enthusiasm is clear to be seen. Excellent hosts - if you have the time, book a lunch or dinner - you will not be disappointed. Everyone we've taken there has been highly impressed by their visit, as well as loading up the car with O Vineyard wine!
We visited Joe and Liz at the end of January and selected the "Wine & Dine" experience after reading the great reviews on here. A 15 minute taxi ride from Carcassonne (about €20) gets you to the vineyard. We were a bit worried that we might be the only visitors eating with the hosts at this quiet time of year, but these feelings were soon discarded as although we were the only visitors, Joe and Liz are wonderful hosts. We were made to feel at home in their beautiful dining room overlooking the vineyards with a glass of wine and a warm fire before setting outside to view the vineyard and the wine-making facilities. After a really interesting tour where we learnt all about the vineyard and the wine-making process from Joe as well as tasting his excellent wines in various states of readiness, we went back inside. Liz's food was exceptional. We are both vegetarians and Liz rustled us up 4 courses of amazing home-cooked veggie food while Joe kept our glasses full allowing us to try many of his renowned wines. Joe and Liz are so enthusiatic about their respective roles at the vineyard it is hard not to be engrossed listening and talking to them. We are certainly looking forward to visiting again at a warmer time of year when we will be able to see the vineyard in it's full glory; and to enjoy the wines we have since sent for. This was the highlight of our weekend in Carcassonne.
Came for the vineyard tour and lunch, and left with a case of six delicious bottles of wine. Lovely atmosphere with no pressure or pretense - thoroughly enjoyable and easy to get to from Toulouse where we were staying. We previously booked the tour only but changed last minute to tour and lunch and were so glad we did, the food here was amazing and the dinner time conversation relaxed and very enjoyable. Perfect hosts!
We joined Liz and Joe for a wonderful tour of the vineyard and winemaking facilities before delving into great home-cooked food paired with their boutique wine. A very educational, tasty and fun night in.
We were recommended O'Vineyards by another wine producer as we wanted to learn about the production of wine. We got a taxi from Carcassonne (booked via the tourism office in the city) and spent an incredible afternoon eating Liz's food and drinking Joe's wine. Joe and his dog showed us around the vines and explained how the lovely wine is made. Liz is proud of her food and Joe is proud of his wine. Rightly so.
We visited O'Vineyards for lunch. After a tour of the winery by Joe we went inside for lunch. Liz is an amazing cook - the food, the wine and the company is amazing. I visited with 3 other friends and we all agreed that is was a fantastic day. Well worth a visit and make sure you grab some wine, it is really good.
Having spent another visit sampling and buying a selection of Joe and Liz's wines, we are once again impressed by the quality. The latest O'Chasan (2013 white), is superb.
Several of us were on a boat trip on the Midi Canal and we stayed for two days in Carcassonne on our way east.I had read about O'Vineyards and we made reservations for a tour with tasting and tapas. Getting there was a bit of a challenge as there seems to be only about three taxis in all of the city. But the tour office adjacent to the marina was most helpful and arranged for a van to take us there and back.Joe, Liz, and their dog greeted us upon arrival along with three other guests who were on the same tour. Joe provided us with background on the vineyards, his efforts in developing the property, and very informative information on his approach to farming and producing wine. A considerable portion of his production is shipped to California in bulk form where it is bottled and then distributed to the US market. We sampled wine and enjoyed very tasty tapas produced by LIz. And of course took a few bottles away with us.And heard a few jokes from our Irish based tour companions. When in Carcassonne, this is a good diversion from the city and the Cite.
One the one cloudy day of our holiday we picked the venue as our Vineyard of choice. A brief taxi ride from town from Taxi firm recommended by the vineyard owners brought us to this lovely location. We were immediately given some tasting wine while we with for another small group booked on the tour. Both Joe & Liz were very welcoming and informative on all aspects of the wine business. Plenty of wine tasting followed plus some very tasty nibbles prepared by Liz. We were rushed indoors due to thunderstorm and required even more wine to sooth our nerves !! GREAT VISIT - GOOD WINE - GO FOR IT.
Great location, nice rooms with a comfy bed and a view over the vineyard.Lovely hosts and fantastic food and wine!
