Clisson is worth a visit for the chateau and also on Friday's a very large market. There are also lovely marked walks around the town and its surroundings including a lovely river.

Visited Clisson whilst on holiday in the area. The attraction was the huge market which took over the town market hall and many surrounding streets - not sure whether this is a regular occurrence or especially large for the Italian Weekend being celebrated. Other reviewers have mentioned the Tuscan influence on Clisson.The town itself is very pretty, dominated by the chateau and spanning both sides of the river. Along with our teenage boys we spent an enjoyable couple of hours mooching around the market (fruit, veg, cheese, meat, live birds, coffee machines, hot samosas, roast chicken and potatoes...) admiring the diverse architecture and watching swimmers in the river. We finished off with delicious freshly made ice cream in the sunshine. Take a camera and enjoy the atmosphere!

Loved the random nature of the town!Beautiful natural scenery and fabulously friendly people in shops and cafe.The decorations from new year / Christmas still up in the market Hal were stunning and pine smells from the trees dotted around town.Wandered through the topsy turvy streets and admired the castle, churches and swollen river. It's achingly picture-perfect and well worth a visit!

Get restaurants, shops, Chateau and one of the best hotels we have stayed in for a many years. We found a bar just by the bridge which was the meeting point for all the locals. We spent over an hour people watching and were late for our dinner reservation.

This is not a cite medievale but a 18th century romantic town built on a medieval site, with its original chateau and a few other vestigaes and street patern. I think this makes it unique, normally at that time they attempted recreations (for example Carcassonne) not introducing concepts from a different tradition. However, it is a facinating town to visit, especially when you consider that before the rebuilding, the town ruins were populated by wolves.

The site is magical, set in a river valley at the junction of two streams, Le Sèvre and La Moine. One can see why two eccentric brothers decided to do a very odd repair job it in the early 19th century, by Tuscanizing it! When I first realized the extent to which they had red-tiled the place, I was appalled, but I soon learned that they had found the city in dire straits following the War of the Vendée, and had decided to do a massive renovation job. They must have asked many of the then property owners, "Would you like your house repaired for nothing?" I'm only guessing, but I can't imagine they had purchased more or less the whole town and repaired it that way. One wonders if there has ever been anything quite like it in the world – a small city totally renovated by two enterprising entrepreneurs.Regardless of that (and the Tuscanizing does take a little getting used to) it is a very pretty town that still has sufficient traces of its medieval past, especially in its non-Tuscanized château (about the only thing they didn't touch) and its narrow streets and lanes. The city has spread considerably nowadays and is quite large compared with the old walled city of yore, but the centre is still there and you can get lovely views overlooking the river and La Trinité district from the castle side. A really lovely little town.

Meander through the little streets, visit the church and chateau an absolute delight.Beautiful views of the river and chateau from the town.You can hire a canoe and go on the river on go for a walk through the park and down to the river,a wonderful day out.

If you wish to enjoy a walk in a typical french town with large history , you could try this one ; upper side of the city is nice but try also the walk near the river which give you a large view of the aera

Habitant cette ville toute l'année, je ne m'en lasse pas. La ville sous tous les temps est magnifique et l'ambiance y est très sympa. Un arret a ne pas manquer !!

Si vous voulez passer un agréable moment venez vous promener et visiter ma ville Clisson , cité médiévale son château ses halles et rues piétonnes , l'architecture Italienne, ses parcs => celui de la Garenne Lemot Il, la villa Lemot a été créé par le sculpteur François-Frédéric Lemot au début du xixe siècle, très beau parc et régulièrement des expositions s'y prêtes, vous pouvez passer à l'office du tourisme prendre des informations ou bien des jeux de pistes pour mieux découvrir la ville (la découverte peut se faire partant du parking rte de Poitiers) , de la villa Lemot pour se poursuivre le long de la Sèvre pour arriver dans les rues pavés de Clisson quartier st Antoine, faites une pause à la Fraiseraie ou bien chez Laurence la Crêperie , passez le pont de la ville pour ensuite remonter vers les halles et découvrir le cœur de Clisson, , place du château tout à à coté il y aussi un caveau de dégustation pour goûter le muscadet vin blanc de notre région, vous pouvez redescendre par les marches le long du château pour retrouver le parc Henri IV avec jeux pour les enfants et une promenade le long de la sèvre qui vous emmènera à la base de canoë kayak , une journée de découverte riche d'émotions, de dégustations des produits locaux avec nos restaurants pour tous les goûts et toutes les bourses, au printemps nous avons nos peintres, en juin 2015 se sera le 20éme anniversaire, j'espère que ce petit récit vous donnera envie de venir découvrir ma belle région.

Jolie petite cité baignée pas la Sèvre, les points de vue sont splendides, le château est très imposant, les ruelles et le parc bien aménagé, à proposer aux amateurs pour une balade en famille ou en couple pour les découvreurs de l'architecture toscane en terre de Vendée!

Belle ville médiévale, surprenante par son architecture à l’Italienne. Cette ville a été reconstruite au début du XIX ème siècle sur le modèle toscan. Visitez ses halles, son église, son château, …Profitez du vignoble présent tout autour de la ville (circuits de randonnées). La ville est propre, avec de nombreux points «toilettes publiques ».La sèvre nantaise est également au pied de la ville et permet de faire de belles ballades à pied ou en canoe-kayak.A découvrir.

un château fort plein d'histoire , très intéressant a découvrir , pour qui s'y intéresse bien sur ... architecture impressionnante , vous saurez aussi pourquoi une partie c'est écroulée ? belle promenade intérieure , de préférence prenez un guide . environ 1h 30 de visite ..entrée payante , prix raisonnable .

Ville très pittoresque avec une rivière la Sèvre , un château médiévale , des ponts en pierre , des collines , des petites rues , des vieilles halles en bois , des chemins de rando et un camping très agréable

La ville de Clisson est bien au Cité Mediavale, c'est bien occupé la rue des Halles pour les piétons dans le centre ville. Bien découverte de Halle avec des charpentes anciennes, et ce n'est pas loin au château de forteresse. En bas, nous avons passé des deux ponts en pierres de deux rivières de Sèvre nantaise et de La Moine jusqu'à le Domaine de la Garenne Lemont, les rues sont propres. Quelques restos.
