This is very close to my house and I go a couple of times every year, as it changes dramatically every season. There are lovely rhododendrons, primulas, a maize maze, hydrangeas, a few animals, a lavoir and a water wheel, which is a wonderful focal point for the gardens. I wouldn't travel more than an hour and a half to go and see these gardens, but if you are in this area, you will not regret it.It only opens on Sunday afternoons though, so be careful when visiting to check the website.
We visited with our three boys (all under 10) on the day of the Honey Festival. All for a reasonable 5 EUR entry fee for adults (boys all went free) we enjoyed the beautiful gardens, the small museum of farm machinery, the maize maze, the small play area, the farm animals as well as the added bonus of the honey festivities. The honey part included a small "gourmand" market, bee-keeping demonstrations (plus a chance to taste honeycomb), a bouncy castle and very reasonably priced crepes (60c each) with honey. We were even given free lollipops as we left. Well worth a visit, particularly if there is a honey festival (or similar!).
The gardens are beautiful and very relaxing. The reception has a selection of tourist information for the local area and drinks and ice cream which are reasonably priced. There is a play area and a little farm to keep the children entertained and they loved the Maize maze and getting very lost!
très beau jardin - grand et variécharme et poésie à visiter au gré des saisons : fête de la citrouille, du miel..en été, labyrinthe de mais : amusant !
