Ok to visit with young kids, Price too high for the size of this small zoo;We do understand that animals are costly to take care of, but if I remember the entrance per adult is almost 16 € ; ans 10 for young kids
Visited the zoo in September 2014. The animals looked healthy, maybe some could you a little more space to be entirely happy, but that's the problem with every zoo. Entry fee was not too much (15€), we had a quick visit (2h). When the weather is very hot as it was this September you will not see all the animals are they were hiding from the heat and the sun. The volière is very nice to visit when you are there.
We were a little disappointed at the lack of 'natural' environments for the animals. The only animals with really enjoyed seeing were the otters.
Poor facilities for the large cats who were obviously bored and were circling the small enclosures. Shop selling poorly made stuffed giraffes did not entice me to part with any cash.
We got there as the doors opened and left about 3pm. Plenty to see, a bit crowded, particularly the cafe. It was a hot day but the zoo offers plenty of shade, good variety of animals, monkeys were on form with plenty of stunts.
We took our 11 & 14 year old here this July, having visited many years ago. This has to be one of the cleanest zoos I have ever been to. Compact and lovely and shady when it gets hot. Make sure you buy the parrot food at the entry for an amusing experience in the parrot zone!
The ability to walk amongst the birds, play with the goats and walk amongst a green environment. The food at the cafe basic but satisfied us.
We visited the zoo in July with our children who are 13, 8 and 5. The zoo is easy to find and very well laid out with plenty of shade. We managed to see all of the animals, including the 'free-range' little monkeys that were roaming freely in the zoo trees and numerous amphibians which were living in the animal's water ponds/moats. It is a very small zoo, which only took just over an hour to gently meander around, however it is perfectly placed to combine with a day out at Sables d'Olonne.
Ok for short trip out if you can see any animals as they all seemed to be playing hide and seek when we went .
Despite the fact that zoos are questionable by nature, this one deserves an honorable mention for trying to make the animals as comfortable as possible while trying to educate the crowd on the dangers of extinction for these creatures. The domain features a lot of shade on sunny days and didn't feel crowded although there were a lot of visitors when we were there.Be advised that this is not a day-filling acitivity. It took us a good 3 hours to get around at easy pace.
Went here with my family during a visit to the area and we had a really nice day out! Its laid out in a way that makes it a lovely walk around, with a beautiful lake and well placed enclosures so you don't miss a thing! The monkeys jumping around on their ropes was the best for me as well as the penguins.
Lots of variety of animals, however felt that the animals didn't have a lot of space. €56 for 2 adults & 2 children. We walked the entire zoo in about 1 hour. Not a bad day out overall
Now normally I don't like zoo's in general but this one has enough animals on show to keep your interest young or old. i think someone mentioned the gibbons they are a hot watching them or as said watching us is quite right. if you have young one take a hat for them and you come to that it catches the sun there and if the sea breeze is coming of the sea you don't realize how how it is.parking now that was fun I would park in the streets leading up to the zoo if you can it will save headaches/or get the train from the prom land train that is.
we visited this zoo for the first time with our young daughters (2,3) and they both loved it, it wasnt too big so they didnt get bored but still plenty of animals to see. They both loved the giraffes and loved the fact that you could get up so close to them. We were staying in saint jean de monts so the journey took us about an hour as we had our own car but we got there in the morning so it wasnt too busy and seeing as the temperture was in the 30's most of the week the girls enjoyed it better while it was cooler in the morning, will defo go back when we go this year
9 and 7 year old boys really enjoyed this, particularly the opportunity to hand feed the lorikeets. Gibbons also fun to watch. Or we're they watching us?
