All around Wroclaw you will find the Wroclaw dwarfs.Their home is in the main square and from there you will find them all over the town .outside different shops with each dwarf wearing or showing the particular trade of said shop /store.They are very amusing fun to find for old and young.

The dwarfs have an honest and politically supportable past - they were the symbol of the Orange Alternative Movement from ca. 2001. Now there are between 300 and 400 of the little buggers all over town and there's even a app to track them. Sure, take a selfie or two with a couple of them, but don't let them distract you from the real story here - a city of over 1000 years that lived under seven flags and had one heck of a tough time in the 20th century. We want to "Disneyland" things, but the chewier reality is worth your time and attention.

Kind of fun to track down these little dwarfs all over the town. We saw a few on our way to dinner- could be a fun adventure if I come back!

We bought a map to find all of the Dwarfs in the city, thinking that this would be a good way to enjoy the weather and have some fun. The map showed the location of all 212 dwarfs, and pictured half of them on the back. We managed to find many of these, but couldnt find any of the dwarfs that were not pictured on the back of the map. I have eye sight far from that of an eagle, but just couldnt find them. Not sure if it was me, or whether all the 212 dwarfs existed. I would definitely suggest finding the city centre dwarfs, but not venturing too far out as it may be a waste of your time.

I completely fell in love with these little fellers from the very first one I saw carrying his purchases at the mall. This is a superb idea for tourism, for kids, and for local artists to express themselves. The city offers a pretty fantastic website, http://krasnale.pl/en/ where you can search for a specific dwarf by his name or street location, see the new arrivals, and view a map of all the dwarfs. The site is even available in 6 languages. I found myself wishing I could stay an extra day just to hunt for all 300+ of them. I'll definitely be back for another visit.

They're kind of cute to spot around the city, doing their little dwarf thing on window ledges and in doorways. They're a lot less kitsch than you'd think

Just simply a brilliant thing to do when in Wroclaw! We didn't notice them the first night we were there, having got there a tad late. But in daylight, you start noticing them...and then more, and then it starts to get a bit obsessive, so you get a map and then realise there's over 200 of them knocking around the city! Once you've learned about the background of these little fellows, dating back to the anti-communist uprising in the early 80s, you start to understand what it's all about. Fascinating and fun and would be absolutely perfect with children!

During our trip to Wroclaw the "dwarf hunting" game was one of the biggest attractions for us. From the whole beginning of our trip we had a map the dwarfs' locations and we were marking each of them, and it became an amazing game of who will spot the dwarf first. We hunted 78 from approx 300 little guys spread around the city. Hints: we discovered a free smartphone app for locating dwarfs, where you can mark the ones you found. Secondly, some of dwarfs live in various buildings, so it's better to come in working hours. And the last thing, some of the dwarfs are the property of companies or restaurants, which means: the company moves thus dwarf changes his location too, so don't get too upset if you can't find some of them.

After you find the first one and then the other and realize they could be anywhere, you can't stop collecting them (by camera).

You can find those dwarfs all around the city, mostly in it's historical parts. There're 2 types of dwarfs: public and private. Public were initiated by local government. They usually do something very general, like climbing a lamp, fighting with fire etc. Private were ordered by companies in order to show how dwarf is using their services. They are always located next to the entrance of the company. For example you can find a very fat dwarf lying on a plate next to PizzaHut, or a dwarf taking money from ATM next to WBK Bank. I can suggest you to go to a tourist center and get a map of dwarfs there. This way you will be able to follow most of them. But not all, of course, cause they appear much faster than a new version of map is printed :).And the main thing to do: Learn why dwarfs became the symbol of the city. They look very nice and joyful, but actually they represent a very important part of Polish recent history. I won't tell you more cause it will be not interesting. So either go for a tour to find out or Google it :)

Not sure if it was the same ones I kept on seeing, but I felt these dwarfs ( or gnomes as sometimes referred) were hiding throughout the city. Kept me entertained anyway, just watch you don't trip over them!

I loved the story behind these wee gnomes and they are such a delight to look out for. Sadly we couldn't do the Gnomes free walking tour as it wasn't on while we were there but we were able to find quite a few ourselves. Didn't manage to see anything like 300 but loved those we found. I also think it's lovely that they've become such a part of the beautiful city of Wroclaw and that the inhabitants of the city have joined in the fun by adding yo the collection.

I do find it funny these have become a seperate attraction. They're so cute and everyone loves them! Look out :)

We had heard about the dwarfs, so we looked for them here and there and everywhere. They were wonderful! Some were hard to spot, either on the street or on a wall :-)
