angler's rest

I would agree with all other reviews that this is a great place to dine, great food, portions, lovely atmosphere and great staff. Would recommend the Anglers Rest to anyone looking for a good meal at a good price. Steak, fish and burgers all top notch.

Dropped into the Anglers Rest for a meal and was well pleased with my visit. Pints of lager at 3.80 set the ball rolling nicely and I had a very good minute steak which was excellent- my wife however felt that her steak was quite tough.The bar/restaurant is located in the centre of the village and was doing a brisk trade as Christmas parties were in full swing and the place was lively.

We stayed in the Slieve Russell and on the second night decided to head for the bright lights of Ballyconnell after checking out Tripadvisor. We thought it was brilliant. Great food, HUGE steaks and a large array of alternative beers. Barman was extremely knowledgeable about his beers and I had a ball. I asked for minute steak and a monster came out. I questioned the size and guy reckoned the sirloin and fillets were enormous. Great food, pleasant atmosphere and great beer. What more could you ask for in a quiet town in the middle of the week.

We went on Monday 14th and the restaurant was unusually busy, according to the bar manager. Our drinks arrived swiftly and the two staff were trying hard to keep on top of things. Another waiter was called in to ease the situation.It was well worth the wait for our scampi and fresh cod. Both were delicious and ample portions. It is obvious that they care for all their clientel, making sure we were happy with everyting and apologising for the wait we had.We will definately go there again if we are in Ballyconnell.

Ho scelto Ballyconnell (o meglio Bawnboy, ma sono attaccati) come tappa intermedia per il mio viaggio verso il Donegal poiché non avevo mai visitato Cavan e Fermanagh. Avevo letto di questo locale per le bistecche che faceva ma non pensavo fossero così... enormi! Una fiorentina gli fa un baffo. Non per gli amanti della carne sottile o comunque che non apprezzano i tagli alti, vi viene portato un letterale tocco di carne bovina (deliziosa).Servizio buono, nonostante il mio inglese impacciato visto che ero appena atterrato e non lo parlavo da 8 anni, hanno cercato di capirmi con molta gentilezza e simpatia.
