Spent a half day there and enjoyed it immensely. Not commercialized, just nature preserved at its best. Great place for a picnic, a romantic stroll, picture taking. Take your walking/hiking shoes and an umbrella, just to be safe. Met some wonderful folks there as well.
If you're in this area, you have to go to Dùn A Rì First Park. It's as simple as that. It was the best part of our long weekend trip to Co Monaghan. Absolutely stunning walks. You simply must visit. It's just gorgoeus. Only piece of advice is that entry to the Park costs €5 and the machine only accepts exact change in either €2, €1, 50c or 20c. We ended up having to go to the garage up the road as we didn't have the right change and it won't let you pay anything other than €5 euro exactly.
Lovely park, loads of trees, running water in a huge area to explore. Spent a lovely afternoon wandering along the paths.
If you ever want to experience an "enchanted forest", then definitely come to visit Dun A Ri Forest Park. Breathtakingly beautiful and magical. I'll never forget it.
If you are around the area you must visit Dun na Ri. It is a beautiful park with lovely walk ways and plenty of space to keep the kids entertained. Also make sure you make a wish in the wishing well!
My children love exploring off track when the water is low. Wellies are a necessity & prams are not a good idea if you want to really explore the park. Bring a packed lunch to have on the big lawn.
Visited the park during our stay at the Cabra Castle in May. My now husband proposed in this park under a tree with falling pink pettles. This park is beautiful with its wild purple flowers and nice walking trails.
Here in Early Autumn, wow,Weather was beautiful and warm and we strolled for hours. If your in the area ,do try to have a wander here ,does the soul good!
Beautifull settings, vast area to just stroll and take in the nature and sights so close to the towns amenities too
My husband and I were staying at Cabra Castle and decided to check this place out after reading so many good reviews. It is lovely here. Many walking trails. We were not prepared though for the 5 pound entrance fee. Easily can spend hours walking around and taking photos. It was not crowded when we went, but did pass by some other people.
Very nice, quite and peaceful, Although a very long walk to get to the waterfall and wishing well. Just a word of warning though it gets very creepy at night lol.
This is a great park for a ramble, with well maintained pathways & good sinage. There are open spaces for a picnic and now shortage of photo opportunities. In the Winter months, appropriate footware is advisable, as the leaves can make the paths a bit slippery & mucky. It costs €5 to bring your car in, so you will need to have €1/€2 coins for the barrier. It isn't easy to reach the coin box from a standard car, and the ticket can be difficult to retrieve, but the barrier should stay up long enough for you to get it. Probably best to drive as close as possible to the coin box. The park is well worth a visit & if you have 4, or 5 in the car, it's quite good value.
Lovely spot for a nice walk with the doggies and an ideal place for amateur photographers to get some lovely shnaps! Always well maintained and well signposted
Excellent place for the whole familywould recommend it to anyone excellent place for any photos.beautiful scenery.
Two wishing wells. Cromwell's Bridge. Ruins. A bubbling creek. The most beautiful copper beech tree I've ever seen. Whimsical statues scattered throughout the park. A quiet, magical walk. One of my fondest memories in all of Ireland.
