The museum isn't even a year old so everything is new and there is a lot of fun animation in addition to a very knowledgeable tour guide. Marie aWas definitely a hit! It takes about 1 hour. 45 minute tour and 15 minutes of tasting. I learned so Michael bout whiskey and highly recommend going if you enjoy whiskey.
Friendly knowlegable tour staff. Outstanding, thorough review of Irish whiskey, no commercial bias. Informative quality taste testing
Had a great time....the tour guide was quite funny...Great hustory lesson on irish whiskey...the VIP tour was worth the money.
I did not have a great experience in the Irish Whiskey Museum. I felt it was a bit too touristy for my tastes, however I can see how others would enjoy it. I will go again and see if it was just my mood on the day.
I was really impressed with Irish museums in general and this one in particular. The tour uses both a guide and video to provide a very interesting review of the history of Irish Whiskey - and there's a tasting room at the end. A great time.
We decided to pay a visit to the Irish Whiskey Museum while wandering around Grafton street and needless to say we were impressed with the tour. We upgraded to VIP for the extra €3 (€18 each) to get the 4th whiskey and glass. You are taken around by a tour guide and you walk through different rooms styled in different eras from the start of the history of Whiskey to what it is today (there is even a old Irish bar room with interactive portraits of famous Whisky distillers). It's a lovely way to learn. You learn where the term "Whiskey" comes from and how it evolved from the Gaelic "uisce beatha" and even the story of the origin of Irish funerals and Wakes. My boyfriend and I loved the tour and the tasting led by Michael who was hilarious as well as being extremely knowledgable about the Whisky we were tasting. We had four to taste with the VIP And we kept the glass the fourth whiskey was served in. I was not entirely convinced about whiskey before I came here and it has converted me. I really enjoyed the tour and the tasting and can say confidently now that I love whiskey. Would recommend this tour if you want to learn the history of Irish Whiskey, it would be a great follow or a good place to visit before Jameson's Distillery tour.
The visit was very entertaining, and the whisky tasting was great, but my overall feeling was that it was all fake. You cannot really feel like you're in "whisky making" environment. Our guide was absolutely great, interactive elements of the tour were fun, but you couldn't really feel the spirit of "Irish Whisky making". So you won't be actually disappointed, but that was not something that will leave an unforgettable memoir from your visit to Dublin. Good if you are there for more days, but in a weekend only visit, I wouldn't bother. I put 4 stars because the whisky tasting, our guide + the gift are worth the price, but it wouldn't be something I would repeat in my next visit. In overall, not a Top Ten experience, but it's a nice option if you've run out of plans for your stay in Dublin.
Great history of the distilleries. Interesting layout of the museum and funny tour guide. I really enjoyed the tasting bit!
Was such a lovely place to go. They even gave me half price entry as I am pregnant and was not trying the whiskey. What they have done with such a small space is amazing. Only been there since November 2014. Well worth the visit !!!!
Good tour but souvenirs expensive. No Que to get in and that's a bonus. Enjoyed the tasting and hearing how it's distilled.
tour was not long but lots of info by a jolly guide which gave you an idea of what it takes to make the golden necter
Stumbled across this gem... Liked it a lot lot. They literally give you whiskeys... I like that.. The bloke who guided us was really good.. And I found it incredibly interesting.. The master taster was accommodating and had a really good understanding of different whiskeys. All around a cracking tour.. You won't regret it.. Trust me
Very interesting tour. The tour didn't take too long and gave you a good insight into the production of whiskey.
The tour was great! I loved the interactive presentation - an old thing presented so nice in a contemporary way! Very interesting! I liked the most the moving-pictures, just like those in Harry Potter's movies, and of course the "practice" - because you remember the theoretical part as long as you remember the taste :)The tour guide was funny and he managed to entertain people from 20 to 65 years old.
