Great wiggly trail through the hills to the lighthouse and Atlantic ocean. Watch your footing if the trail is wet.

Great lookout onto the water. It was a bit windy in December but the photos were worth it!! There's a picnic bench with a view so if you want to Bing a snack or a lunch its a great place to do it.

I had time to kill so went this route for a change. For the uninitiated on Irish roads, this can be a wee bit scary but the saving grace is that nobody can go fast. It is beautifully scenic reminiscent of old Ireland. I did not go on the walking routes this occasion.

Unspoilt and totally natural place. Walkways on the Peninsula are top class and easy to navigate. The people are extremely friendly and very helpful to the slightly lost tourist. Loads of places to eat and visit.

We stayed on the Sheeps Head Peninsula for a week over Christmas (Dec 2014).We were looking for somewhere quiet with stunning scenery and we found it.The drive onto the Peninsula gave some fantastic views and we loved everything about our whole stay.Great area for walking and there are a couple of options for eating/drinking.We were very lucky with the weather which made things easier.

The Sheeps Head peninsula or, more correctly, the Muintir Bhaire peninsula is one of the great places in Ireland. It has been brought to prominence thanks to the great work of the local committee, the pioneering work of the late Tom Whitty and the support of the local farmers across whose land the walking routes traverse. The beauty is enhanced by the relatively narrow roads - it means no tour buses! This is a great place for a walking, hiking or cycling holiday. The views over Bantry Bay and Dunnanus Bay are breathtaking.

If you're planning to visit the Bantry area then this is part of the tour well worth including. Don't worry about the narrow roads. Take your time, give way to ondoming traffic when it's obvious that you should, and enjoy the experience. We happened to visit the area during awfully wet weather and still enjoyed it. The scenery is great, the wildness is inspiring. Definitely to be recommended. There are a few nice eating places along the route, plus some crafts and arts outlets. Go for it, you won't be sorry.

We spent most of a day traveling from Bantry to the tip of Sheeps' Head Peninsula and back, stopping off in several places for the view. We also stopped at The WhiteHouse cafe (see review). The scenery is spectacular with views of mountains and lakes, cliffs, sea stacks and little coves. This is one of the quietest places we have ever been and we saw very few people in our journey around the coastline. Well worth putting time aside for when you are in this lovely part of the world.

A place where you can really get away from it all, spectacular views and wonderful people. Charlie in Seamount B & B is a wonderful guide and goes that extra mile to ensure you enjoy your time here. I cannot recommend him and Julianne highly enough!

The most beautifull peninsula in Ireland. Ideal for family, walkers and Art lovers...The light and view from sheep's Head way is just unforgetable.

The walk from the cafe to the lighthouse said 2km but it seemed a lot further and it wasn't an easy walk as some was quite steep and uneven. Stunning scenery and worth the effort even if, like me, you don't get to the end.

Pivi63

One of my favourite walking spots - beautiful views, wild seas, rocks and grass and heather and gorse...
