We went to have a look here whilst in Tallinn, but found that it was closed when we visited in the morning. When we checked the tourist information we had it said it was only open from April to October, closed winter time.We visited in February, so needless to say it was closed. Never mind, it's somewhere to visit when we next visit Tallinn.

I liked the attitude and the way the community cares about history of the country and town. It is worth including it into your tour of the City: go there, spend €2, climb and enjoy the view!!

The Tallinn´s highest tower is incredible with its unique variety of spots in the church and it is good to go up and look down from the top! :)))

I liked the walk up as there was no stops or platforms on the way up - just stairs, stairs, stairs. The view was beautiful even though the location of the church is such that you sort of miss the very best parts of the city. Still worth climbing. Fun to meet people from all around the world on top of the Old Town.

For a time the St Olaf's Church was the tallest building in the world. The spire is 124m high, was used by the KGB as a radio surveillance station and has been struck by lightning many times. It is one of the oldest buildings in town and was founded in the 12th C before the Danish invasion of 1219 when they named the town Reval. The church is named after King Olaf II of Norway. It is free to enter but cost €2 to climb the spire.

You should really add Oleviste Church to your trip to old city to have great overview of the whole city - and this sporty resort has no lift!

I have been to the top a number of times and it is not a bad climb really. The view is of course spectacular!

The church (free entry) itself didn't seduce us. But we got the chance to climb the 253 steps (2 euros) to the top of the tower. Very windy and narrow, but the 360° view is really nice.

If you want to get some good spots of Tallinn above it, climb up to the roof! Just for 2 euros you'll get the view of all the city till the seeside

This was our second visit to Tallinn. We had visited before in March with snow on the ground-very slippery streets, and snow in 2 m piles at the sides of the road. We had tried every day to get up the tower, which the Tourist Office said should be open at 10.00- IT IS ONLY OPEN IN THE SUMMER. The spire is 124m high- a landmark in Tallinn. You pay 2 euros to ascend the tower, which is quite a climb up a narrow confined steep step spiral staircase - there are 260 steps! Then you have a very steep ladder to the viewing platform. Ropes at each side of the staircase are necessary for your safety. The views from the platform are stunning over Lower Towns rooftops to Toompea. The church itself dating from the 13th century is quite stark, and the chuch gets its name from the architect Olaf, who fell to his death from the tower.

2€ entrance gives you an absolutely fantastic view over new tallinn and old tallinn. Climbing up might be a bit hard for some, but definitely worth it!

We took the one day ferry trip from Helsinki to Tallin and back. The trip was very pleasant. In Tallinn we climbed the 248 steps of Saint Olaf's Church and got a good view of the whole city. We went to the City Square and also saw the nearby Estonian History Museum. Altogether it was a very enjoyable trip.

But the view is supposed to be good! We did not go as the wind was very cold and we were starving. But friends who have been to the top say it is worth the climb. The church itself is nothing special compared to alot of the other sights in Tallinn.

It was well worth the euros to go up and see the views from the tower. Don't miss it. Only down side was people who missed the arrows showing which way round to walk.....they caused big problems in trying to pass the people who were going the correct way round.
