Have been here several times and on this occasion visited with my family. The caves and the story of their discovery are interesting. Our guide was knowledgeable and nice. We brought our daughter (2,5 yrs) and she was a bit bored each time we stopped and much more interested in the sit on digger outside (which cost 10kr, expensive!) We managed to see some fish in the caves though which was fun. After the caves it is well worth going for a woodland walk in the surrounding areas by the car park or going down to the beach.

This is an activity you should try if you are into caves/ rocks& geology/ or simply the curious kind. Great experience for kids. It is very popular among tourists to Gotland. Unfortunately, not too many non-Swedes come here, so you have to ask for the guide to speak in English as well. In summer, there are quite a few tours during the day, so it might be that the guide misses part of the English commentary & explain the story outside, at the end of the tour. However, that wasn't a deal-breaker for me. The guides are quite pleasant & take your questions, if any. Apart from the caves, there is a small exhibition & a movie about the caves, a cafe and woods for walking around or clicking pics.Note: cave tours are open only from May till September, so time your visit accordingly. If you want to do more than the 300mt long tour, they have a 'cave adventure' which takes you a further 200 mts into the caves in a small rubber boat, but of course, that comes with a price.

having grown up in sydney and frequenting Jenolan caves, the 45 minute 'guided tour" (super nice guide, in swedish only, translation to english available after you exit the cave) was disappointing. if there were more than 2-4 tiny limestone deposits it was a lot. they could not book us the exploration tour as they are available on very limited days. not worth the drive, except perhaps to picnic there

The display before the cave is very interesting and speaks to how caves like this are created. The movie about the three boys finding the cave in 1950's is interesting as well although only in Swedish. The tour of the cave itself was shorter than expected, and while the guide was knowledgable and friendly, gave less info than expected. Bring a warm sweater and closed shoes - the cave is 8 degrees Celsius year round and there are puddles of water on the floor.

This cave was first found by som young boys in the late 40-ies but opened up for Tourists many years later. It is a quite interresting Cave Worth while to see and it is located not far from Visby. The visit to the takes Place with a guided tour. Go there early because it is popular and you might have to wait for a while.

The show cave route isn't long but the tour is well laid out. Cave tour lasted 35 mins. After an interesting exhibition area (with indoor rock climbing wall) there's a short film (in Swedish with English subs) to start tour and explain how the cave was discovered. Tours were running every 10 mins and we waited 20mins at 11am on a hot July day. You enter the cave on the side of the hill with great views of the Baltic Sea. Some parts of the cave have low ceilings and you will have to walk bent over in parts. Not so good if you're carrying small kids. The tours are in Swedish but our guide Daniel was great, getting us to following him closely and giving us the English tour before the rest of the group caught up. On the tour we saw a number of pretty formations, nothing spectacular, but interesting geology all the same. The attraction offers an extended 3 hr adventure caving trip which looks great but we didnt do it. You have to be over 16. Travelling to the cave from Visby by public transport is not straight forward which is surprising because the cave is only 20km or so north of Visby on highway 149. A no 61 bus runs from Visby, but stops 1km from the attraction entrance and runs so infrequently we didn't go for that option. Taxi ranks are not obvious around the marine/port area in Visby. We got the number for a taxi from the marina office (who hire scooters and advance booked cars) but we got an automated answer system in Swedish which made it impossible to book without asking someone to help out. We ended hiring a car from Avis in Visby and this turned out to be the best option. (Visby itself is very pretty by the way.)The attraction has a nice restaurant, cafe and the usual visitor attraction shop. All good. Lummelunda Grottan is the only Swedish member of the International Show Cave Association so definitely worth visiting if you find yourself on the island of Gotland, Sweden in the middle of the Baltic Sea.

Just kidding, although there are a few low places. Our guide was great, knowledgable and enthusiastic, and he really helped us understand the excitement of the teens that first explored the cave.

We made a bicycle trip to the cave, which is situated some 15 kilometers north from Visby. As it was out of season there were very few visitors and we got a private guide to tell and show us the history and geological details of the cave. The visit in the cave including a video took about 30 minutes. The guide was kind and effective. Unfortunately we were a bit late for lunch at the cafeteria so there was not much to choose from. Unfortunately the water mill was closed.
