Visited during a 7 day trip through Romania.Great and scary at the same time.Worst a visit.Very cold :)Enjoy!
This is one breathtaking canyon! I was amazed by it when we drove by. Wouldn't mind spending an afternoon there at all.
Awesome scenery, the road cut right through the mountain, following a small creek called Bicaz. The best way to enjoy its greatness is by walking through it.
Breathtakingly beautiful scenery, it was absolutely a one of a kind experience, it really worth touring at least a half day in this amazing canyon.
A journey to Romania isn't complete if, in my view, a trip to Bicaz Gorge is skipped. This scenic drive is spectacular with sheer cliffs rising literally from the edges of the road. It takes less than an hour to pass through, longer if you dally in the souvenir shops - worthwhile as they do offer fine souvenirs (I bought some embroidered fabrics) - but I also enjoyed passing the horse carts which is still a way of life in rural Romania. It's not far from Ceahlau National Park, a great place for hikes, so there's enough to do for the active traveller.I definitely recommend this attraction.
The Gorge was formed by the Bicaz River and linking Transylvania and Moldavia.A narrow road follows the river banks between high stone walls and links moldavian village Bicaz and Gheorgheni,in Transylvania.
Very impressive gorges, I'd highly recommend. Unfortunately they are littered with these kitsch bazaar/souvenir huts which became part of any nature attraction of Romania... Also, the single access into the gorges is on the road. This is not ideal if you visit them with small children as the traffic is pretty heavy and all the drivers appear to concentrate on the landscape more than on the road.
Before dreaming of seeing the great canyons worldwide start a first hand experience with this one, worth all your efforts and i would dare say it's for free. dont hesitate to visit if you are in Romania as this is an amazing piece of nature.
perfect place for making nice photos, It is real nature that makes you feel so small when staing there. the road is with very good condition and no aglomeration on the way.
Bicaz Canyon is for sure a beautiful attraction that is worthing the money and time! I recommend going there with a personal car because you'll want to pull over and stair at the canyon. the continuation of the road is leading by Bicaz river. at the end of this journey, is the Red Lake (Lacul Rosul) that is famous for calming, relaxing and treating anxiety. Renting a boat is the best way to enjoy a trip on the lake.
Just a quick visit to this amazing gorge, not to be missed when travelling in the vicinity. Lots of tourists and lots of sheds with mostly kitsch souvenirs
Cheile Bicazului – Hasmas National Park is located in Hasmas Mountain,in the central part of the Eastern Carpathians ( Altitude: 670 – 1792 m ).Thanks to the impressive size of this natural monument called Cheile Bicazului this is one of the most interesting areas of the country. The natural borders of this protected area are represented by the Suhardul Mare and Suhardul Mic . The rock formations from Cheile Bicazului were made in time by the brook Bicaz which carved the rock. This area is a protected together with Lacul Rosu (The vulcanic Red Lake), Cheile Sugaului, Hasmasul Mare and Hasmasul Negru Here you can find one of the most difficult climbing routes in the country – these routes are only for professional climbers. There are 18 touristic routes to explore.
Spectacular views in this canyon as we drove through, we had to stop and walk for about 30 minutes to enjoy this natural wonder
Very nice place, but a little bit dirty. Not near the road, only under the trees, and behind the boutiques. There you can see enormous rocks. The transilvaninan nature is amazing! :)
Bicaz area with a length of 6 km from the town of Red Lake to Bicazul Ardelean, is crossed by the road Carpathian DN12C. Bicaz is a very beautiful geographical area of Romania. It is located in the center Hăşmaş Mountains. The canyon was formed by the Bicaz River and linking Transylvania and Moldova. It is the best known and most attractive gorge of the Eastern Carpathians. The narrow road and steep mountains make from this a paradise of climbers and motorcyclists
