Although undeniably ornate, it didn't feel ostentatious (like Sevilla). I could have stood there for hours looking at the architecture and decoration. This is a must see!
The Orthodox Cathedral in Timisoara is definitely worth a visit. It is the most impressive Orthodox church in the city and probably one of the most beautiful in Romania. Different architectural styles and elements are combined in a unique way, making it a landmark of Timisoara. It also hosts an interesting museum in the basement.
Very beautiful cathedral. It has some vintage Romanian icons, also historical religious artifacts. It is very large, and impressive.
The Cathedral has some beautiful icons, and is definitely worth a visit. The inside is more beautiful if you catch a sunny day, because there is not much artificial light inside. It's ok to take pictures.
Architectural ansamble is great, interiour aweesome painting, in city centre of Timisoara, this cathedral is representative for town!
Its a good, beautiful an quite site. Its a place with history and is awesome site which transmitbmuch place.
One of the most amazing Orthodox Church. Great romanian Landmark. Recovery and reflection. Amazing wall paintings and architecture.
This is a relatively recent Cathedral (1926?) and the outside is nothing special but the inside is a delight.Visit to see lots of gold!
A beautiful Cathedral, definitely a must see if you are in Timisoara! It could do with a bit more historical information leaflets but if you are more organised than me I am sure you can find all this online.
It is spectacular day or night for visiting. It is beautiful inside and outside. You need to keep the silence inside. The pictures are amazing, next to the river. After enjoying the Victoria square, don't miss the Cathedral.
Definitely swing by to check out the architecture and the design and paintings that cover the entire inside of the Cathedral. Especially if you're already in Piața Victoriei... It's right across the street. One of the prettiest churches I've seen.
King Michael made it possible - it's impressive If you like to visit or say a prayer - it's a place near Goddon't go at great celebrations - it's overcrowded
It is a church with nice architecture beautiful pics and nice story. I recommend to visit this church if you are going to Timisoara
Visited after almost 10 years, this is a beautiful place of worship and very dear to the local people of any faith, one of the 'centerpieces' of the town. Many don't know that 25 years ago many people were shot on the steps in front of the cathedral, shot by their own army and militia during the Romanian People's revolution against communism, that started in Timisoara. With this in mind, when you next visit the cathedral, ask locals to tell you the story of their revolution and show you the signs of bullets in the steps to the Cathedral and walls of surrounding buildings. An amazing story!
This was my first visit to a "working" orthodox cathedral (apart from Hagia Sophia in Istanbul) and was very interesting from that point of view alone. The gilding of the icons was most eye catching, as were the actions of the supplicants. Outside I noted a plaque that stated that it was completed in 1936, which greatly surprised me, as it "felt" much older. A very interesting and worthwhile visit.
