botanical garden and tropical butterfly garden

Nice little attraction in Joensuu. I remember going there when I was a kid, and went there again this summer, and had nice time there. Saw many butterflies and interesting plants. You can also meet two amazon parrots Lasse and Ilmari and cockatoo Juuso during your visit.Prices: adult 9EUR, children depending on age 3-5EUR and students 7EUR. We were there when Ilosaarirock was happening, so we got -50% of our tickets because we had wristbands to the festival.

It wasn't butterfly season but, the garden had surprisingly interesting collections of items. Being from Chicago, I am accustomed to having it all, so, I'm hard to impress unfortunately.The most interesting aspect of my Finnish visit as an American was the length of darkness in winter and light in summer. This seems to reflect the character of the people. They seem very accepting of rules and there are many. They wait for a red light walking when it is night with no car in sight. They avoid all small talk and just ask for something with a demand of "give me that something". They avoid intrusion by barely acknowledging someone they know in public with a raised eyebrow. They may have danced together with a Finnish tango the night before. Want more dichotomy? Try hotter than any American sauna with wood burning and hot rocks that throw super heated steam that singes your ears and then, immerse down a ladder into the hole in the ice to the frozen lake. Now that's contrast. Make certain to try the reindeer (bambi), and the Bullwinkle (moose), as well as the Bugs Bunny (hare) for dining. Rutabagas is popular and seasonings are not. English is most places but, fear of mistakes makes people reluctant to speak. All must learn Finnish and Swedish and English is next most likely. TV is very English with Finnish subtitles as with the movies.

I have visited Botania, tropical butterfly garden, couple of times and enjoyed every visit. Last time I visited there with my friends, weather outside was rather cold and rainy. It was nice to stroll in greenhouses, especially in year-round warm/hot tropic. I didn't see as many butterflies as previous time but saw few big ones. If your main interest is tropical butterflies, I recommend you to go to Botania during summer. Then there is huge amount of different species! Still, even in the winter, there is always some plant blooming and lot of interesting things to see. Also parrots, of course, are always funny. Stuff is kind and helpful. Botania doesn't have lockers but I have sometimes left my heavy backpack to stuff members. Before leaving I had cup of coffee and a bun. I ate those in the greenhouse and it really was relaxing!

В ботаническом саду не обнаружили чего-то очень интересного. Ну сад - и сад! Весь интерес, конечно же, в оранжереях. На небольшом пространстве воссоздана природа различных природных зон. Попугай, говорят, иногда разговаривает. Нас не удостоил:) Только очень выразительно смотрел:) Растения плодоносят. Бабочки летают ОООЧЕНЬ красивые. Тут же они, на ваших глазах, практически, выползаю из куколок. В отдельном "террариуме" живут растения хищники! На входе можно взять путеводитель по секциям оранжереи с краткими сведениями о главных "достопримечательностях" каждой из них. Есть путеводители и на русском языке.Немаловажно, что можно прикупить фирменные магнитики из Botanica:)

Такое прекрасное место в столь отдаленной на север стране. Они создали тропики в своих оранжереях. Все растения подписаны и ухожены. По оранжереям летают бабочки и живут попугаи. Также есть комната для детей. Продается очень много сувениров. До города минут 30-40 пешком. Но оно того стоит!

Место представляет собой небольшой ботанический сад и выставку тропических бабочек, в принципе можно посетить если совсем не чем заняться

Интересное место, потрясающие экскурсоводы, любящие свое дело, много-много разноцветных бабочек, которые пьют нектар из нарезанных для них фруктов, говорящие попугаи, вкусный кофе в небольшом кафе и очень милые мягкие попугаи, парочка которых живет теперь у нас дома. И да, там я увидела (первый раз в свои 28) как растет какао :) Было интересно!
