infantry museum

Mikkeli is a pleasant town to walk, there are several nice places where a person could go, a visit to Cathedral church is always interesting,also is nice to wander trough their square and streets, but if you are interested in the recent history of Finlandia or in the II W.W you should go to Infantry Museum. It is in old Finnish Army barracks. Inside the Museum is possible to see weapons and uniforms used by Germany and Finnish Army during II WW, and the Winter War against the USSR. You can see several documentaries in adittion to models where this Winter battles took place. In my opinion is an atarction who whorth be visited.After your visit, if you want you can buy a souvenir or maybe, go for a walk across the Museum Gardens, ending you visit drinking a beer or a coffe in the Museum coffee shop.

Much to learn from Finland's wars.I dislike that civil war has told little bit from otherside not in subjective way.

We visited this interesting museum as a group of experts. However, we found out lot of details which were not commonly known. This museum gives you a very good lay-out about the finnish war history during the last 200 years. We can recommend a visit to this interesting museum.

Экспозиция музея описывает историю армии Финляндии за период с ее зарождения примерно с 1915 г.,( со времен подразделений егерей, которые стали затем основой армии независимой Финляндии), до настоящего времени. В залах музея представлены образцы вооружений, обмундирования, военного снаряжения, военные карты, плакаты, множество старинных фотографий.Особое место занимают экспозиции, посвященные Зимней войне 1939-1940 , Войне-продолжению 1941-1944 г. и Лапландской войне 1944-1945 г. Особого внимания заслуживают экспозиции, описывающие быт солдат во время войны.

Большой музей, обширная и интересная экспозиция, и не только для людей увлеченных военной историей. Мы посвятили этому музею два часа и это было очень интересно.
