Nice old atmosphere to tell Finnish maritime history. Reasonable price to enter and kids under 8 was free. There is four different locations: Two indoor areas, outdoor area with couple of smaller ships and bigger ships in a river Aura. Big ships are closed in winter season. We visited only this main indoor area and checked smaller boats outside. Exhibition was disappointment for younger kids (5-7 years). By ads there should be tasks for kids but we found only couple of very basic tasks not to interest much. Maybe big ships in summer season would be more appealing to enter.Cafe-restaurant had expensive greek buffet lunch available at Sunday. Looked like good quality but we didn't eat.

The oldest city in Finland is also the heart of Finland's shipbuilding and maritime industry. Many of the worlds largest cruise ships have been built there. Forum Marinum may be a bit off the city center, but conveniently located by the river Aura and the Turku Castle. Take a nice stroll by the river banks and visit the restaurant boats while walking to this must-see attraction!

This maritime museum in Turku nicely presents the great maritime history of Finland with a classic gallery displaying ship models, paintings/posters, artefacts related to ships, a building showing Finnish boatbuilding, several real ships at the dock by the river outside, a nice souvenir store and a restaurant. Well worth a visit when in Turku and a must for ship enthusiasts.

Everything you ever wanted to know about boats and ships, and a lot more too. This is a huge museum, especially with the ships moored on the quayside, so allow plenty of time. Prety much all aspects of boats, ships and shipping are covered, with, naturally enough, a Finnish emphasis, but most things are more widely applicable. For overseas visitors, the exhibitis are fairly well labelled and described in English. There are a range of hands-on exhibits, as well, including a couple of working submarine periscopes, through which you can look out through the roof. Among the museum ships, while everyone loves the glorious white Suomen Joutsen, we found the two naval ships particularly interesting, especially the minelayer. There's a decent buffet restaurant as well (the Daphne) to keep you fuelled through what will probably be a long visit.

With two museum building and five museum ships this museum is recommended for anybody interested in shipping.

Several big boats including a schooner you can tour. A few very strange exhibits like the floating ski-car. Nice exhibits inside the museum. A lot of stuff on sale there also.

Walk by the river for sure ! it will give u a taste of old maritime sailing boats and a great view. get to see diff types of ferries, sailboats, yachts and one of their old navy ships. and the walk nevertheless is awesome owing to the view n combined with summer.

The museum should be bigger and more interesting, but those ships and boats were awesome. I liked most Tykkivene (gunboat) Karjala and Miinalaiva (minelayer) Keihässalmi. They were so scary... No, more like exciting. Suomen joutsen was a dissapointment. But still, love that place!

Maybe introductions to various items and their history is a bit on the short side, on the other hand ages 14-70 all found enough informatin and items to make the visit longer and more rewarding than expected. Don't miss outside items, including boat Daphne in restaurant with the same name.

They have two big sailing boats, a former cruise ship, a couple of small military vessels and a few more smaller craft which you can visit. Plus the indoor museum with more about boats. So if you like boats this is a great place.

Very poor collection concerning Finnish maritime history, overprized restaurant and gift soft. There's hardly anyone visiting this place.

Very interesting exhibition showing correspondance, medals, uniforms of one of the russian zars close friends and commander of the russian fleet. A lot of old photographs and ship models. Also oil paintings of the disaster off the Danish coast. The exhibition will next move to the Russian Military Marine Museum in Sct. Petersburg. The Forum Marinum is a permanent exhibition of ships and maritime aparatus mainly from Finland.
