I really liked the market hall but for me I have to say its more like a collection of coffee shops/restaurants. There are some "stalls" but its not what you expect at a "normal" market hall. Its beautiful inside and we went there every day for lunch or afternoon tea during our stay so we checked out pretty much any place to eat and drink in the hall. Prices are really good for finnish standards.

Not much to see. Few stalls selling oldfashioned stuff at high prices. A couple of stalls selling food, but we did not stop to by anything.

I visit Hakaniemi Market Hall at least once a week. The products are of good quality and the selection is better that elsewhere. Then there is the people, often they really know what they are selling and it is nice to chat. Perhaps the prices are sometimes little higher, but the service is much better.

We arrived at approximately 14:20 and there was nothing there. There must have either been no market that day, or they decided to pack up and go home early.Whether visiting in February, when the temperature was at 0c that day had anything to do with it i do not know.

We visited Hakaniemi Market Square in the afternoon, so luckily there was no huge crowd. The place is a colorful marketplace, but nothing more (also nothing less). Some specialties are a bit overpriced, but if you want to try out some delicates seafood or other fresh things, a visit might worth your time.

If you really love seafood and especially salmon, you should definitely visit this market! They have so many stands selling fresh salmon ;)

I stopped here with some other students and picked up some treats to eat on the bus ride to the country side. I also picked up different jellies to bring back to Copenhagen. They offer a lot of different Finnish foods.

One of the places to go, if you want fresh fruit or vegetables, especially some locally grown. In July/August (possible a little earlier) they have the most wonderful Strawberries. In fall you can get a lot of mushrooms. Hakaniemi Market also has a lot of other vendors selling everything from home made products to souveniers.

We were in Helsinki for a few hours on a Baltic cruise and stopped here because we saw it on Rick Steve's bought a knife and a few other local made souvenirs. Also ate some wonderfully fresh salmon and one of the stalls with an orange tent

We visited three market halls while in Helsinki and found this to be the best. It was also one of the liveliest. We ate salmon on rye sandwiches which were very good. Upstairs are several shops, including a Marimekko shop and souvenir shops. We also visited the Old Market Hall by the harbour (very pleasant, but more touristy) and Hietalahti Market Hall (fine but not worth making an extra trip for).

I love wandering around markets in new cities and Helsinki is no exception. Having been to the smaller market by the ferry terminals, I was eager to check out this larger establishment. Unfortunately the market was nothing like what I had imaged. The ground floor was fresh produce mainly with a couple of cheese and ham stalls. The upper level was a total disappointment. There was a Marrimeko stall and the rest were bric a brac that you get at a charity shop or a flea market. If it's gifts you are after, go around the design district. If it's food (not fresh produce unless you intend to cook) then head to the one by the ferry terminal.

I always love to go to the local markets when visiting a new city. It is a great way to sample some of the local foods. This market was smaller than expected but still had a wide array of local foods and Crafts. My friend and I tried smoked reindeer and had moose soup for lunch. Both were delicious. It is an indoor market so well worth visiting, especially on a cold or rainy day!

Go and have a look in the hall at the tiny stalls offering all kinds of super fresh, mostly organic delights. It looks pretty boring from the outside but ot so once you are in. And, sometimes there is a flea market in the square outside. Close to town on the #6 tram

We visited this lovely market in July & had a great experience. Tasted some local produce & bought several souvenirs, including a beautiful silver bracelet for our daughter. Wish we had bought a ring & earrings to match. Been searching on line for the distributor to no avail. Can anyone help?

Read from trip advisor that this is a 'must-see' place in Helsinki. Took the metro to Hakaniemi station and walked across the street to arrive at the market square. I expected the market to be as big as Queen Victoria market in Melbourne or Salamanca market in Hobart but to my disappointment, it was a 2 storey small market selling some fresh meat, vegetables and souvenier.Covered the whole area within 15 mins and left Hakaniemi.
