A fascinating experience that i can well recommend, a little on the pricey side but well worth it. The carvings were amazing. The meals were not very palatable and the accommodation was an experience. If you do the overnight make sure you were thermals as sleeping in -5 is very different.

It's 20th anniversary of Kemi's Snow Castle, open from January to Easter. Located near Kemi center, entrance is 15€ and it's worth it. It's awesome to see what is possible to make from ice. Hard to describe all that, so take a look at those photos. It's not too cold inside and you can take some hot wine in their restaurant if you feel little chilly :)

It's not the best attraction of the world. Not even of Finland. However, if you happen to be in the region you should definately visit the snow castle because is unique. Each year there's another theme and they built it all over again which might be a convincing explanation for the high entrance price. The reason I'd highly recommend it is the experience of being there and admire something you can't easily find.

Well, I must say that it isn't cheap and its true you get much less than in a five star hotel. But you pay for the experience. Each room has different decoration and each one is impressive. Each corridor, the dinning room and the bar are also very nice decorated. The dinner was good and personnel is very kind.It was quite an adventure to sleep in an ice room since you sleep dressed and inside two sleeping bags. I woke up several times at night as I got my face uncovered and cold but I think its once in a lifetime experience.

Big, beautiful, special, and a must see if in Northern Finland. Beautiful light setting and very high service level.

The snow castle is full of corridors and interesting sculptures, even a life size Valtra tractor made of ice. The hotel rooms are very basic and is meant to be an experience, not luxury accommodation. The Ice Bar and Chapel look good. Must be very special for people not having been building own snow castles while young.

Can't stop admiring the great ice sculptures in the snow castle. Three types of hotel rooms; suites, decorated rooms and normal rooms without decorations. Great place also for younger children. A Stroh cacao is a must in the beautiful icy restaurant. I recommend to visit just before the sun goes down because you're able to have an experience in the day light as well as in the darkness. One more hint: Don't miss the ice chapel.

Stayed at the Lumi Linna ice hotel around 7Mar this year.Room was very cold and difficult to zip into the warm sleeping bag provided on our own.My friend all went back to the cosy main lounge in the middle of the nite. The ice was beginning to melt when we check out the next day.Overall not a comfortable place to stay the nite but good for a one time experience, especially for us coming from the tropic. Alternatively just include the snow castle visit (minus the overnite stay) when booking the Sampoo icebreaking cruise.

-Building made of snow and ice on the lakeside (usually frozen)-Each chamber is a different theme and the sculptures are elaborately carved,a absolutely beautiful-Beautiful small ice chapel-Ice bar (pretty but expensive)-The sleeping rooms are quite simple (except for the suites, which have their own wall work)-Surprisingly well insulated-Definitely a one of a kind experience-The city (Kemi) is nothing special

The snow hotel was surprisingly warm, and the decorations were brilliant. The only minus was the ice hotel, which was a bit cold, as would be expected.

...due to extremely warm winter this year... But still worth visiting - one can admire the effort put into building this, carving the decorations, arranging the rooms and restaurant... every year again. The idea of staying overnight in one of the over-priced "rooms" - not so appealing, really.

When we went to the LumiLinna they had a nice jewelry display in the ice galleria. Everything was packed in ice.The ice sculptures they make are really amazing! The castle even has an ice playground for the children. Great place, great food and there are a lot of things to do in the surrounds.I suggest that you stay in the LumiLinna at least 3 or 4 days.

We visited at the snow castle before our Sampo cruise and it was amazing. Every year they build it all over again with a different theme. Many ice sculptures with special lights, ice restaurant and bar and also outside there are ice slides which are very fun. Don't miss:)

Just went to artic snow hotel in rovaniemi yesterday and was impressed with the ice restaurant and ice hotel rooms.Today visited Kemi snow castle and Woah the ice sculptures inside are much more intricate and lively. Another plus point is there are lightings to light up the rooms for easy photo taking compared with attic snow hotel. There is also the ice restaurant where u can dine, ice chapel where some go there to get married and also a cool ice bar. The normal rooms look simple with just a bed but the suites are cool with ice fireplace and wardrobe sculptures. A must go especially if you combine this with sampo ice breaker tour .
