This was one of my favorite things I did when I was in Ireland. The castle ruin is a well kept attraction with lots of history. How many castles have you been to that were built on the edge of a cliff wall? We took the self guided audio tour and found it to be very well done. We then explored the grounds underneath the castle which was really cool - there is even a cave underneath the cliff the leads right to the ocean. I highly recommend stopping by Dunluce on the way to Giants Causeway - you won't be disappointed!
While I did find a lot of the castles I visited in Ireland were beautiful, this one was very unique. It is literally right on the cliff side on the ocean so the views are amazing. There is also a path below closer to the water where there's a small cave and a view from under the bridge. Just driving through the countryside to this castle is breathtaking and there's a cute beach town nearby to have a meal at. If you're touring this coastal route, I recommend starting here!
We spent a few hours here this afternoon. The weather was perfect, cold and windy so that just added to the "authentic" feeling my imagination was chasing. If you're into history and castles, and have an imagination that's willing to run wild then this is the place for you. It also offers the opportunity to explore a little more of the North coast! I'd definitely recommend this place!
Our first tourist stop having arrived in Dublin and drove to Portrush to start our Irish Road Trip! Lots of history here, and well presented at this castle. Just the ticket for our first stop as we learned a lot about the area, the castle, etc. The grounds are well maintained and obviously care taken to keep the area inviting. Parking was close, and we were glad we picked September to visit - few tourists! Thanks for a lovely introduction to Ireland!
Stunning views and a nice bit of history. For the kids there's a treasure hunt that keeps them busy. I think it was about a half hour visit to do everything so it can be a quick stop when in the area. Not much of a gift shop.
Brilliant place to visit, right on the beautiful North Coast. Convenient to Portballintrae, Bushmills and Portrush. Tea Rooms and parking available. Plenty of beautiful places to visit near and around. Royal Portrush Gold Club a few miles down the road our championship course. This area really worth a visit. Live near Dunluce Castle.
The most beautiful place that I've visited aroung northern Ireland. The history of this castle is amazing and the riuns of the castle is very beautiful
Amazing scenery. A wonderful experience. Doesnt get the coverage its scenery and beauty deserves, Would definitely recommend to any coastal route travellers. Superb.
Yet another amazing gem along the Antrim coast... Fantastic views... Would recommend stopping off and having a look ..
My husband my son bad I visited dunluce castle in the summer 2014 ,we loved it the knight on the bridge was great fun , the views are stunning .
Very good place to visit for pictures. We visited with our 2 year old and he loved it running about the place through all the ruins. No guided tour unless arranged and paid for. So we just ambled along ourselves.Great for pictures of the castle ruins and the surrounding scenery.
Breath taking views and my favourite scene on the North Coast. Great place to visit with the family especially on the Historical days that they organise during the summer. Well worth a visit for the face painting, craft, music, entertainers and storytellers and set in the beautiful Dunluce castle on the splendid North Coast
i visited in the summer with my parents and partner. we enjoyed looking at the ruins and the nice views over the castle.
Well worth a visit, even on a cold winters day. Rugged scenery is the backdrop to this amazing castle. Wandering around you can sense what it must have been like in it's heyday, such a grand and majestic setting. Good discovery room with facts about the building and the restoration work. Considering a visit in the summer as well to experience the scenery in a different light.
We were the only visitors there on our particular day so we had the castle to ourselves. It's really interesting to look around as you can still get a sense of how it has looked through the ages, with maps and guides and an audio guide included in the price. Really beautiful place to visit, plenty of space for kids to run about too. Plus the views are incredible!
