This is a big, modern museum with a lot to offer. I particularly liked the sections on prehistory and modern history (1900s onwards), there are a lot of interesting exhibits and the staff were very helpful. I visited on a Sunday, and at certain intervals during the day, a member of staff gave short talks about WW1 and showed some exhibits. He seemed very knowledgeable. It's free to get in and you can just pick and choose the sections that interest you, so there's really no reason not to go!
I took my 8 year old niece here after working in the States for a few years. I thought it was going to be the old museum I went to on school trips (and dreaded), but when we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it has been modernised! We had a really pleasant day out, and it took about 4 hours to get around with kids. Excellent last minute day trip and best thing of all, it's FREE!
Just a wonderful place to see. Quite often great Art Exhibitions. Leanardo d'Vinci's drawings werea nice treat. No charge although small donations welcome but not necessary. Lots of facilities and lovely Botanic grounds to walk in and great for a sport for a Summer picnic. Do relish in the recently revamped Museum, wonderful.
We went to get out of rain However it's a great place with plenty to see allow at least 3 hours The " The Troubles "Exhibit is really good and the people who put this together we're very good it's well balanced with no blame or bias for either side The ww1 poster exhibition is a joy The restaurant is first class and plenty of quality food to choose from I would imagine a great place fo lunch Had a good pot if tea Spoke to an attendant and he told us that new exhibitions are planned all the time There's lovely clean toilets and a cloak room too
Ulster museum is somewhere you easily while away a couple of hours. It has something for everyone, kids too, with loads of interesting exhibits and interactive workshops. It is brand new and modern and we found the best way is to go to the top floor first and work your way down. Then take the opportunity of a refreshment in the very nice snack bar. Worth a visit afterwards is the adjacent botanic gardens and sunken ravine!
This is a great museum, really interesting & well laid out. Loads to see with something for adults & children & it's free!
Apart from all the different displays in the Ulster museum so much to see the displays on the different floor levels are well laid out.It would take a couple of days to see and check every display on show we only spent a morning there but it was a morning well spent.
My children just love this place! Visit the top floor for the art activity and head for the discovery centre on the second floor, squeeze in a little lunch at the cafe (ask for the kids meal, never advised but always available and very reasonably priced and prefect portion sized. We will be back soon!
This place is in a good location. The museum is nice and relaxing and has some good displays. It's never been too busy when I have been there so you get a good chance to see everything.
Good day out exhibits are great and lots of workshops for the children we are all looking forward to going back there is so much to see
Can never doubt a free museum so that was great but we felt that the museum was a little topsy turvy with no natural progressiion, we ended up leaving after an hour. Great interior and some great exhibitions but the layout definitely put us off.
I was attending a conference being hosted by the Ulster Museum. From the outside it looks like any other museum but once inside it's hard not to be impressed. The foyer has a multistory Window On Our World exhibition that is fascinating to explore. I kept finding more exhibitions as I walked through and just wish I had the time to see everything. I will definitely be back.
Quite interesting way to pass the time. Varied with enough to interest everyone. The NI history section on the ground floor was pitched just right.
Went to have a wee explore around the place and learnt loads of fun stuff. It was easy to get around aswell. There are even that allow you to use them, like microscopes and other stuff. The cafe was brilliant. Had a soup and loved it! Very interactive!
How do architects get it so wrong? This is a truly appalling building, like a prison out of Star Wars. The noise pollution is incredible. If there's even a small group of people in the huge gaunt central well hall you can't hear your ears. The exhibits are well laid out and the labelling isn't fussy but walking through the building is like being in an Escher drawing - confusing and unfriendly. The café staff were totally disorganised and self service took forever. They were then very rude when asked how long more we would have to wait! My children couldn't wait to get outside and have a run around the Botanic Gardens.
