Been here a few times, most recently last night for Give My Head Peace. Very comfortable seats, even the seats beside the posts are good as they give a little extra room which is handy when your husband has very broad shoulders!! Last night we had aisle seats in the stalls, perfect view of the stage, great sound too. Facilities are nice & clean though the corridor where you queue for toilets can get a little cramped during the interval. Price of drinks at the bar & snacks was very reasonable too. A very enjoyable experience & I'm already thinking of what upcoming show I'll book next.
I continually go to see many shows at the opera house and don't think I haven't enjoyed the night out from plays like bird song to musicals like calamity Jane. The seats are very comfy and I have always enjoyed where I've sat from the stalls, balcony or even a box seat. The toilets are great facilities and there are plenty to serve all the attendees. Anyone needing wheelchair access should be aware there are special seats downstairs for that and also there is a lift to the upstairs as well as disabled toilets. The box office is just inside the doors as well as a well stocked bar and there is usually a small memorabilia stand as well as sweets/popcorn etc available.
What a lovely building Unfortunately no show while we were there but had afternoon tea in a lovely setting Had a great cup of tea Would love to go and see a show
Typical old traditional theatre with a nice ambiance, good acoustics, good vision, bar and always has a wide selection of performances throughout the year
really enjoyed my night at the Grand Opra House went to see The Hole in the Wall Gang great evening and really funny.
Opulent surroundings and a range of shows to meet all tastes! The GOH is always an entertaining night out.
We love the GOH, it's a beautiful theatre offering lots of amazing performances to suit all tastes. The disabled access is limited in that there is no parking close to the entrance which means I always need an extra person with me to accompany my family member in her wheelchair while I go park/collect the car, still worth it though and the staff are very helpful in accommodating needs
Having moved to Belfast from some middle-of-nowhere place in central Germany I was hoping to finally have access to a proper opera house with many operas. Well, it sort of is what is says it is but sadly there are no operas. It is a multipurpose musical theater where most plays/musical are on for a few days and are replaced by new ones. So in most cases it is tough to get tickets and if you are lucky it almost inevitably is some back row with limited visibility. The place itself is nice - old style, opulent, plush opera house but it is small and there is little of that grandness feel to it. Not that I was hoping for a local La Scala of the Sydney building but having a scheduled run of proper operas would be great.
The Grand Opera House is a gem to the city, compared to other venues in the city,it as a marvellous atmosphere it puts on a wide range of shows for all,saw Jesus Christ Superstar sat their with tears in my eyes great, but I miss going in the bar over looking the street the new buildins is like a pimple on a pig bum,the person who designed that must have had a liquid lunch before he started to draw it.
Fantastic night out! Such a wide range of different shows for everyone! Opera, Ballet, plays, comedians - it has something for everyone - adults and children! I go to the pantomime every year - would not miss it! May mcfetridge is fantastic and if you haven't been i would definitely advise to go! Inside is beautiful - the art work on the ceiling is beautiful. I always sit in the Circle - would suggest this as I think the seats are perfect - in the Stalls someone tall may sit in front of you and in the Gods I feel you are just too high! So circle is perfect! Staff have always been pleasant and welcoming. They also sell Membership cards - I hold a Silver Card which was £30 and which entitles me to "Buy one get one free" and "10% off" on some shows so it does have its value! defo worth taking a look into :) Excellent venue!
I go to the Opera House about 8 times a year and it's a good venue for mainstream theatre. There's a good range of shows, the staff are friendly and I find the seats good. The shows are quite amusing, from finding out that Cats is awful, to having the surprise of the Mousetrap being really good, you're always guaranteed an entertaining night out here!
