enjoyed a visit to the Meffan to reminisce over all the photo's of life in the 70's, great putting names to the faces in the photos, think with hindsight this could go on a run by changing the photo's every month and ask locals to supply exhibits, more advertising could help increase the number of visitors.

Visited the Meffan Museum today. I have been promising to do so for some time but never found the time. Today was the day. An excellent facility, well laid out with all the exhibits clearly marked. They are about to put on an exhibition from the 1970's from a local newspaper and this should be of particular interest to some of the younger people. Helpful friendly staff. Well worth a visit and it is free.

We went to this museum because we knew it had some very good examples of carved Pictish Stones. These were well displayed, but there was plenty of other good things to see. The reconstruction of a small alley in Forfar, with the different occupations, and the special World War One exhibition in the upstairs gallery were equally appealing to our party of three. Plus the bonus of helpful staff.

We went here to see the museum's collection of Pictish stones but were delighted by the place as a whole. The stones are well displayed with good descriptions and explanations both on labels and via audio. The recreation of a Forfar street scene was great fun and the witch's trial suitably spine-chilling. The staff were very friendly and helpful, there were attractive items in the shop - and we virtually had the place to ourselves. A delightful place to spend time.

It was very interesting to find out the history of Forfar. It's not a huge place so will only take about half an hour to go round, and it's free. They also show some new young artists work which I like to see, everybody needs help starting out. Oh, they also have toilets!

Great exhibition of RSW work on at present as well as the "witches" exhibition which is always a draw for kids. There is usually some good art work being displayed as well as the opportunity to purchase jewellery. Well worth popping in.

Easy viewing with free admission. Re-created street is very cool. Very interesting look at the past regardless of where you are from.

Small but perfectly formed! Changing exhibits and permanent features make this an interesting museum. Nice facility to have in a small town. Interesting facts and artefacts. The street shops are interesting and good for keeping children entertained. Won't take long to look round though as it is small. Central location and easily accessible, worth a visit if you're in Forfar but wouldn't travel far.

No matter when you go into the Meffan the staff are always happy to go out their way to help you, providing excellent local literature and lists of bed and breakfast establishments. The many works that are shown here are worth a visit and you will be supporting many talented peoples collections.

Has good selection for such a small museum and the reinactment of what the High St was like 100+ years ago is good (including the Small Sweetie Shop, which is still going strong today!).

This museum punches above its weight in terms of art exhibitions with regular shows including all genres from still lives to abstract. It is also informative about local history and has an impressive Pictish section.

I think perhaps the museum could do with a little bit of updating. I have been several times when showing friends from Abroad and they all say other than the old street, there really isn't that much in the way of interaction. It has great potential
