Lovely mix of rocks and beach...on a good day seals can be seen swimming or even sunbathing. Plenty of space to run/walk in a crowd or alone. Watch our wonderful coastline with crashing waves or gentle ripples and breathe in that air.
I am so fortunate to live locally and walk my dogs there early most mornings before it gets too busy. Sunsets are spectacular but don't think you can beat it first thing on a bright preferably mild morning where if it was not for the temperature you could be on a beach anywhere. Up to now car access has been free but the council intend to charge for cars later this year, very sad. I did a review some time ago about the walk from Gullane beach to North Berwick that is one of the finest coastal walks you can do around here. Toilets are available but closed for the winter.
Gullane Beach, aka Gullane Bents, is a beautiful, sandy beach that's well worth visiting. We missed the sign for Gullane Bents on the main street, but you'll get there if you walk in the opposite direction from the golf course. On a Saturday in February there was a pleasant amount of activity, with people lunching on the benches overlooking the beach and kitesurfers in the water. Well worth your time! Also, a 6-min journey on the 124 bus from Gullane will get you to Dirleton Castle, if you're looking for something else to do. To get back to Edinburgh we took the X24 bus (costs £4.20).
Arguably the best beach in east lothian. Happy childhood memories and still enjoy particularly off season
Nice wide sandy beach. Great for a walk, for exercising and even horse riding (i saw people horse riding but am not sure where they got the horses from). I am not a fan of cold water, i would personally skip the swimming part.
This is a pretty small coastal town. You will see a sign for Gullane bents. Make your way there out from the South side of Edinburgh to experience the nature reserves in the other smnall towns along the route and then maybe take a beer in the Golf or experience one of the small town of Gullanes eateries.
This is one of the best beaches I have been on and love it,it is very sandy, there is free parking but if you want to park for a short walk to the beach you get charged for parking.
A lovely sandy beach with plenty of free parking, also allows disposable BBQ's which special bins provided.
lovely place to walk, a bit on the cold isde for a swim I thought. a beautiful location one of the most striking beaches I have seen.
Great clean beach lovely walk dog and niece loved it plenty to see and great rock pools at the end. Must see the crater kids love it. Nicest beach in East Lothian.
Gullane and Yellowcraigs beaches are amongst the best in East Lothian and you can enjoy long walks in the dunes or on the sandy beach itself. Treat yourself to coffee and cakes afterwards at Falko Konditormeister or a lunch at The Old Clubhouse in Gullane.
Beautiful sandy beach, which we and the dogs enjoyed. There are several ways down to the beach. You can go by car and park above the beach, or make your way there on foot for a longer walk.
Gullane beach is worth a visit no matter what time of the year you go. It's a beautiful long sandy beach with great dunes. It's perfect for dog walking, exploring with kids or sunbathing when the sun's out. It does get busy but nothing in comparison to say Portobello beach which is closer to the city and serviced by buses. There's usually an ice cream van on busy days and there are public toilets. If you're planning a day there best to bring supplies with you. The beach is really clean and well maintained and visitors here respect the space and it's rare to see any rubbish lying around. The sand is soft and fine and golden. My favourite beach on the eats coast for sure!
A place of great beauty all year round especially at low tide. Sadly the dunes have been badly damaged by winter storms, but its stunning anyway. Along the dunes a bit there is quite a lot of litter and the local Council could do better at clearing this.
Fantastic beach with great dunes!Must be at least a mile of sand in each direction from the car park at Gullane. I can just imagine a hot summers day beside the dunes superb!!!!
