Thanks Michelle for a wonderful experience! The 6 to 7 km walk was easy (due to many stops) despite all the snow, little ups and downs, through a forrest and on the roads of Dufftown, duration about 2,5 hours. Michelle carries a heavy rucksack with half of the whiskys you will get to try. She has a depot half way where she changes the bottles in the rucksack, I am not telling where that is ;-). You get to taste new make spirit, some standard and some non-standard expensive whiskys. Michelle takes you past most of Dufftown's distilleries, she tells you things that the distilleries would not tell you, so very interesting insider knowledge. Michelle is very friendly and really wants you to enjoy the tour. I highly recommend her service!
We found a flyer for the Dufftown Distillery Walk while we were at The Macallan doing their tour in the morning. We called Michelle that afternoon, and although she already had a large group, she fit us in the group, since it was our only free evening left on our trip. I'm glad she did!The walking tour of Dufftown was just fantastic. We got great info on each of the distilleries we visited, and also got to taste 9 different malts. There is quite a bit of walking involved, but it is well worth it. I highly recommend this to anyone who finds themselves in Dufftown.
Be prepared to walk! I believe the tour totaled around five miles, but we didn't notice because there were plenty of stops to discuss history and distilleries and to sample whisky. We had several rare iterations from the local distilleries. Michelle was a wonderful guide who gave a frank history of the area and its distilleries. If you are interested in Speyside whisky, then this tour is an absolute must!
My husband I did the walking tour while at the Speyside Wiskey festival with Michelle. This was a highlight of our time in Scotland! Michelle was incredibly knowledgeable and has inside connections with the distilleries. We sampled at least 10 different types of hard to find Whiskeys and many homemade treats ! She also set us up for dinner (after a restaurant was closed) which was very sweet of her. We would definitely recommend this walking tour to anyone coming through the Speyside area! You will not be disappointed :). Thank you so much Michelle!
My two sons in law and I took the tour with Michelle just before Easter 2014. It was most enjoyable, informative and a really good evening out. Michelle knows her stuff and provides an appropriate sample at each stopping point. It could be the agenda setter for a longer visit to the area, or a way of seeing what really matters if time in the area is short. It was great value for money. The walk is over 4 miles taking three hours, but not at all difficult even for an OAP like me! In short - do this first!
Both my partner and I really enjoyed this experience. I had read reviews about some of the distillery tours being monotonous and so was looking for something a bit more interesting - this really hit the spot. We were only in Speyside for one day and initially the walk wasn't scheduled to take place the evening that we were there. However after a quick email to Michelle she was able to confirm us for the date we wanted. The walk takes place in the early evening which was a beautiful time of day because all the day tourists and coach trips had left. We were joined by two other couples and found the whole experience great. Michelle was very knowledgable about the local area, as well as the distilleries and their produce. We got to taste seven great malts and had fun in the process too. Highly recommended even if one of you doesn't like Whiskey!
My husband and I joined Michelle and four others for a lovely evening hike around the distilleries of Dufftown. The tour was really interesting and a cool/different way to experience the distilleries and this charming town. Michelle was fun and obviously very knowledgeable about both the town and local whisky. I think it's worth mentioning that this tour is a bit more towards a hike than just a walk. We think we did at least 3 (maybe closer to 4) miles and covered quite a bit of different terrain. It's not super strenuous but it's also not just a stroll around the town's sidewalks either. That being said, it was spread out over approx. 3 hours so the pace was leisurely and fun. This is a fabulous value as well - for the experience and all the different whiskies you get to taste, the fee is incredibly reasonable! I highly recommend this tour if you have some time in Dufftown!!
The walk took about 3 hours. We passed the 6 distilleries around Dufftown. Got a taste of an expression of these distilleries. Nice and friendly girl showed us around. A must an a warm and sunny evening if you like whisky
We have been to Speyside a couple of times and have always enjoyed the tours the distilleries provide but we were so glad we found this walking tour on our most recent trip. The tour takes you on a 2-3 mile walk of several of the old and lesser known distilleries. It is a great way to get some fresh air and walk off the haggis; and you get a taste of whisky at each stop! Michelle gave us the tour and she is very knowledgeable about each of the distilleries we visited. It is off the beaten path and the highlight of our wonderful trip to Speyside.
Rekommenderas mycket varmt.
