The Glennifer Braes are right on my doorstep so i often take a wander up via Paisley Golf club. The views you get from the car park are outstanding both day and night while there is plenty of walks to go on like the Tannahill walk to see the waterfall and streams.Good place for cycling, birdwatching, flying a kite or taking the dog a walk(but kept under control!).Always worth a visit for the adventurous among us.
A great place to stroll, nice views, waterfalls, and both hill and wood walks. Make sure to wear good shoes you don't mind getting muddy and wet.
The views from the car park take you into the City of Glasgow, up into the Kilpatrick Hills (Dumgoyne Hill) and West down the Clyde. On a good day the views are spectacular and you can pick out features like Ben Lomond, the Campsies and beyond. Great walking here above Paisley for the active. Long or short walks.
This is a not bad place (good views and handy for paisley) ruined like many other places by people who let their dogs run riot. My partner and young daughter are both scared of dogs and don't appreciate dogs jumping up on them, licking them and scratching them and if people just see this as their dog being "friendly" they are Muppets and Glennifer Braes has a very high concentration of them.
Beautiful views of Paisley and the upper Clyde Valley from the Robertson Car Park. Nice walks of varying length. Only downside is no public toilets
are made of this...I walked these hills as a toddler and now I'm walking them with my children.Fantastic since they have added the play park, we walk the paths do our sight seeing then reward the kids by letting them play until the sunsets. Take some snacks and plenty to drink and be careful on the roads and pathways.Lovely back to nature FREE day out.
Go walking here and you forget that you are only a minute from urban Paisley. Lots of pathways, streams, etc. a favourite place,to go dog walking, and Robertson Car Park has fantastic views over Renfrewshire, Glasgow and across to Dunbartonshire and the Trossachs. The only drawback is trying to avoid cattle poo; though the presence/absence of cattle is well signposted. One could spend a whole afternoon exploring the are from the summit, down to The Linn. Lots of benches too and a small play park beside the car park for the kids.
This is one of the best parts of living in Paisley, being so close to both the City of Glasgow (7 miles) but enjoying the most fabulous scenery living at this high an altitude affords. We are just a few minutes drive from the The Car Park in the Sky, and so we often take our kids and dogs up here. Park in the car park, and you can walk for miles over the countryside. There is lots of wildlife to be seen; Aberdeen Angus cows, hare, buzzards and wild flowers too. There is an area near the car park with swings and climbing frames for the children to play on, with seating and tables for anyone who wants to take a picnic. If you cross the road, there are a few walks you can do, although the signs have warn off a bit. If you walk down the hill there is a big field where the kids can run, and walking further on will bring you to the reservoir. The hills are pretty steep in places but most people would be able to climb it I think. The views are amazing. You can see Beith, Johnstone, Paisley, and right over to Glasgow. In the distance is Ben Lomond, and the Kilpatrick Hills. It is definitely worth driving up there just for that view. In fact I have noticed that lots of people on their lunch breaks drive up to eat their lunches and just enjoy the breath-taking views.I would imagine that the views at night are pretty spectacular too, but here I come to the down side of The Car Park in the Sky. I would love to come up here at night, however, the car park is used for dogging. Dogging, in case you don't know, is people watching other people engaging in sexual activity in their cars. So if that floats your particular boat, fair play. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother with it after dark.
Still gives the best view of Paisley and the Kilpatrick Hills. I love to sit I the car park and look over the town whenever I visit.
Good for something to do if you don't mind the travel. Most commonly after 8pm it turns into a lovers lane type thing, and there are a fair few dog walkers around, but it's on a large enough area that it shouldn't affect you.Bring a jacket because there is no protection from the wind. There are a few benches around the area and several little interesting marks in the area, including a sundial! Pack a lunch and take a few hours to appreciate how close to the city you can be, but also how close to the green we are as well.
Great at night. The Big Car Park in the sky! Wouldn't miss the chance to experience the visit again. More houses now less green belt but still worth a visit.
This is a great park to visit on your own, with friends or family and dog. There are two water reservoirs within the park where many locals fish with no charge, good to start the kids fishing here. The park has recently been improved, the walkways all round have been surfaced and access stairs have been renewed making the visit much better. There is a great waterfall hidden in one of the pathway (it is signposted) but there is steps so limited access for some. The wildlife, plants and atmosphere are lovely. The only downside is that there are no toilets, although there is a ranger station situated at the entrance of the park and they may help.
I stay in pisley for 3 months and just wanted to have a walk in the scottish nature ... Just great ! even under the rain hahaA good experience of nature just out of the city.To go there, take the bus line 101 at paisley centre until the stop paisley campus!
We used to take the dogs to the Braes for walking and exercise it is a wonderful area with lots of space to roam and let kids and animals run around. Lovely views over Paisley and the Campsies.
If you can avoid the perverts of perhaps yourself in search of them, then the scenery is perfect.Overlooking the entire Clyde value west of Glasgow you have breathtaking views.Daytime there is more camping than an annual jamboree and at night the dogging takes over so don't go then unless you are intrigued by the shenanigans of these deviants. Each to their own bug you have been warned.
