Really good staff, dud not know the answer, but went into the back and brought out a book about Carmichael estate and spent about 5 minutes finding the answer
The centre delves back into the history of workhouses and education in olden times and gives a good example of how people in this once rural town lived on the land and made a living in the old mills and farms in the surrounding area. The histoical value is really interesting and well worth a visit.
Also from badger sets. Very interesting. Not manned when we arrived but basically self explanatory. The centre was situated in one of the old outbuildings with a small mill wheel and cascading water. We learned a lot about the Falls of Clyde.
Take a day to veiw and understand the relevance of New Lanark. Great area, super buildings and nice.
Beautiful museum with takes you back in time, to an another century. It is worth the entrance money to go and check it out. It’s about an old town and the cotton mills. It is 5 buildings you can go in and see. But there is also allot to see outside. And if your there, go in to the restaurant for a time out. The food and drinks are good. And if the weather is good….. Take an ice-cream. You can taste it is made the old fashion way. It is delicious
Situated at the top of the high street beside the bus/train station and Morrisons. So there is parking close by.Although it is a small information centre it has lots of useful information on the Lanark area and further afield. Also information on public transport too.Sell the usual maps, books, postcards and other gifts.Very friendly and helpful staff.
