Drove past deliberately to see the memorial. It is a remote part and very quiet. A fitting memorial and well worth a visit. You need to know where you are going to find it. No signposts apart from the one right at the memorial. Hope to see it again soon.

A magnificent memorial to an indomitable man. With a great view over the surrounding hills this understated statue marks the man who conceived the embryonic Special Air Service. Its moving because of its simplicity and starkness, and usually you will have the memorial to yourself.

Well worth stopping to read about the man and what he achieved. The views across to the mountains and hills of the Trossachs and Ben Lomond are some of the best to be found in the whole area.

Worth that detour to see this. I came across it by pure accident. It needs to be better advertised. Stirling's statue is magnificent.

Unless you knew that it was here it would be very easy to simply drive past this simple memorial. When you consider what David Stirling achieved, and the lasting legacy of the SAS, it is right that he is remembered and it is certainly worthwhile stopping here for a few moments to reflect on what he achieved.

This Statue to David Stirling founder of the SAS sits at the side of the B824 halfway between Dunblane and Doune. There are Plaques surrounding the statue which list the fallen SAS men of WW2. There can be fewer peaceful spots to contemplate what this man and his men achieved. Worth a short detour on your way North
