We only knew about this site b/c our daughter went on a Scotland trip in high school. Lots of history, no entry fee, in the middle of a neighborhood. It's a must see.

If you have never been in a historic abbey or similar then this is worth a visit. Nice location not far from Wallace monument.

Did not know it was there till my aunt & uncle mentioned it. Worth the visit as it has a lot of history attached to it. Clear view of Wallace monument and Stirling Castle

If you want a short walk around Stirling with a bit of history, this is a great detour. Walk across the bridge at River Side and amble down to the Abbey. The views are great and for little effort it is an enjoyable walk

Lovely walk around the abbey and walk up to the water. Great fun on a nice day. Parking a bit tight and need to respect neighbouring houses.

The ruins of the Abbey can be reached from two directions. You can drive here by coming from the Wallace Monument, or walk from Stirling town centre and cross over the river by footbridge. The local street maps are helpful in this regard. Very significant site in Scottish history although there is not a lot of ruins. On a nice day it`s a lovely place for young families to picnic and pretend that they are Knights of the realm

For an unattended site this was very well put together and there was a lot of information on the plaques around the place. Cambuskenneth is just a walk from Stirling, and well worth the trek!

I live in Stirling but had never visited before. I took the opportunity of visiting today and for a walk in the sunshine. The tower will take about 1 minute to look around as there's nothing inside but it's a nice stroll in the gardens and around the old graves. An interesting history as this was where parliament met following the battle of Bannockburn.A good photo opportunity in quiet and peaceful surrounds. Worth a visit if you're a tourist and are maybe visiting the Wallace Monument. Otherwise I wouldn't go out my way to visit.

It's a really nice walk to the abbey from the centre of Stirling on a good day (should take no longer than 30mins each way) and more accessible than driving. The site is little known which is a shame as it is well maintained and rich in history. It could do with a little more information on the abbey as there were many questions left unanswered, but overall it is well worth the visit.

It will most likely take you longer to get to what's left of this abbey than you'll spend looking at it but if you're into that sort of thing then that probably won't bother you. Otherwise a snap of "that tower over there by the river" will probably be enough for you.

Check dates of opening - apparently closes in September. Thankfully we only went to see it in the passing. Car parking unclear as in a residential area.

Worth the walk to see the ruins. Could do with a little more information on the history but the site is well maintained and you can use your imagination!

Not many know about this place (though it is getting more popular since the first time I visited), the Abbey is an amazing little site with the tomb of King James III. When I was here last, the site was owned by Historic Scotland but they have since put up informational plaques similar to their other sites. This went a long way to piecing together the site and the history, so I'm pleased at this investment. Selfishly, I'm tempted to give it a poorer review so it continues to be overlooked and stays preserved in the quiet and peaceful state its in. I have to be honest however, and recommend that people do build a quick visit into their Stirling plans.

It 's not far from the Wallace monument, and loaded with history. The bell tower is intact, and the remaining ruins have been appropriately labelled etc - mainly because Queen Victoria became very interested in the site. Robert Bruce's Scottish Parliament of 1314 was held here - and both King James III of Scotland and his Queen are buried here. (Good Queen Vic had the royal tombs restored - "as a mark of respect to my ancestors" in 1867 or thereabouts). We were there about 20 minutes, and shared the site with two locals walking their dogs, and another tourist.Ideal for contemplation!A relaxing, interesting small piece of Scottish History.
