I live close by, this is a great walk, whether you walk to it , up it, or round it ( recommend all three) it's beautiful. On a clear day you can see to calendar or in the other direction the bass rock. If you drop down the back and walk round you might see, deer, badgers, foxes, buzzards as well as a number of other species I don't recognise!!!Great place just to sit down and reflect/contemplate.There are steep/ slippy stairs on the way to the main hill, the summit of Binny is reached via a steep grassy slope which takes about 5 minutes to climb if relatively fit, well worth it for the views.Watch your dogs with the sheep.
Well worth the visit especially if you have a camera. A bit of steep climb at the crag itself but the views from the top (220m) are breathtaking and well worth any exertion. Parking up close for a quick visit can be difficult, but there's plenty of parking in nearby Uphall and a well signposted and maintained walk from there (even with a sturdy seat to take a rest on the way). You can return to Uphall the way you came or if you prefer a longer, circular walk, return by way of Ecclesmachan. Reverse back to the first tarmac road, turn left and follow this road down to the village, then turn right at the junction with the main road which will take you back to Uphall.
