Has high hopes for the museum but was so disappointed not where near as good as the old one I visited as a kid.
Here with one of my best friends and his young child. The vehicles are mostly too high to get a good view of, some of the bikes you can't see well from any angle (I'm thinking of some of the ones on the Mobius strip display). The moving ships display is excellent, showing off a number of lovely models. The cafe was a little expensive (£5 for two drinks and a sandwich). Not bad for a free centre, and definitely worth visiting.
This museum is free and well worth a visit. My husband lived in Glasgow as a child so remembers the trams that are on show. There are plenty of seats to stop and have a rest. There is a cafe which was reasonably priced. The shop was well stocked and prices were good. Something for everyone to remember.
this is a superb museum for all the family. Small but perfectly proportioned . Displays are truly stunning. A must for any Glasgow visitor
Never thought transportation museum would be this much fun ! Very good compilation of vintage trams, buses, cars, etc. much better than I expected.
I walked out to the museum from the SECC - took about 15 minutes but most enjoyable. I have visited the Transport Museum in its home in Pollockshaws, its home at Kelvin Hall and this was my first visit to its new home on the Clyde. This is a well laid out museum with plenty to see and do. I was particularly interested in the shipping area of the museum and was very impressed by the moving displays with the descriptions of the vessels being displayed on flat screens as the they pass by. The ability to visit the tall ship is an added attraction. All in all this is a tremendous museum that brings back loads of memories - a definite "must do" while in Glasgow.
Although this has everything the old museum had it just does not feel like you are going back in time when you enter the building. You always felt that with the old building. Still, a nice place to visit though.
It would be hard to find a better collection of various forms of transport presented in such an accessible fashion. We spent over 3 hours there! No wonder it has received various awards.Very impressive!
Had a lovely time wandering around the exhibits. Loads to of stuff to see. Particularly enjoyed the old fashioned street and learning about the underground. Would recommend for anybody with kids.
