I am now in my 60's and can rememberthe good old days spent at Craigtoun Park in the 1960'sI spent many a wonderful day as a boy with so much to do, you had The Original Puffin Billy, Putting, Crazy Golf, Bowling, Swings, Two Tractors both of which pulled carriages, rowing boats, and dont forget the Dutch Village with music blaring from it, oh yes it was such a wonderful day out.
For those of us no longer young, this park has easy walks, good parking and lovely views. Surrounded by the Duke's Golf Course, it is clean, tidy and well maintained. With access to the golf clubhouse available, good food and drink adds to the pleasure of a really nice park, usually well supported by children although few were around when we visited
Every Saturday morning at 9am and I think it is an amazing park for families with young children. Any way the park run is a 5k run around the park .the puffing Billy train is a great experience for children .I have taken a child of my family and they had a smile on there face the whole time.
Craigtoun Park has been part of my life for many years, and in the last year or so there can be no doubt that the money and effort that has gone into restoring it and promoting it has paid off.During the day, the park offers beautiful strolls for those wanting to wander around, and there is the added attractions of a newly re-furbished animal area, a cafe, and of course, the miniature train ride available for adults and children to ride. What visitors should really watch out for though is the events that happen within the park out of hours. I went, in the warmer months, to see an outdoor play of Shakespear's mid-summer nights dream. We were encouraged to set ourselves up with a picnic and to bring our own drinks if we liked. We had a great time, and the park provided the perfect back drop.In addition to this, I enjoy taking part in the park run, which is a 5k run organised every Saturday morning around the park. You have to enter online so that you have a barcode to enter the race, but it is all free. The route around the park offers great views of all the botanical scenery it has to offer - if your not too out of breath to appreciate it! And then there's the cafe afterward if you are in need of a pick me up chocolate bar/ an supporter of the race in need of a cup of tea.
Been here loads of times ,has a train that takes you round the park, swing park, wee shop/cafe n nice walk also. The park has boats that you can row, good day for family.
I use to go too Craigtoun all the time when I was a wee boy & it was a lot better than it is now. Recently I went there with my lovely girlfriend. I've got MS so I've got a wheelchair which I very seldom use. I used it yesterday & the ground was pretty rough & my poor girlfriend trying to push me in it she manage to do it but she ask me to get out of it some of the time when it got too rough which I did. But the disabled person has bn forgotten abt in this day & age & don't get me started on fife council the biggest shower of idiots going around. It's the council that owns the land so am led to believe & they don't have a clue how to make things easy for the disabled it looks like. I'm VERY proud of my girlfriend for managing so well with my wheelchair.
Very disappointed on the paths for wheelchairs .the ash paths where not easy for a wheelchair and kept sinking in the deep parts we wont be back
friends have done a great job of reviving the park, keep up the good workplenty to do for al the family, great day out and the gardens tended by Fife Council gardeners are beautiful
Thanks to the efforts of some very determined local folk there is life in this Park again. I used to bring my 30 something kids to this park when they were young and it was such a good time. The dog came too and everyone enjoyed a great day out.
Had a lovely day at this park, kids had fun on boats, trampolines, crazy golf and cycling. Very picturesque and all the staff members we met were polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
This is a true gem. A beautiful park with loads of activities for children, most of which are free. A fabulous play area with extensive contemporary equipment, tractor rides, train rides, small boating lake, zip wires... or a simple picnic in the wooded areas. More than you can fit into one day.
Enjoyed our day here, Free admission ( but some of the rides / and other activities there is a charge ) loads of space for the children to explore , play parks, walks , boating lake, tractor rides and a miniture railway too.. a mix for all ages !! there is a cafe and the food quite good, also plenty areas to have a picnic! It was a lovely sunny dry day when we visited this venue not sure what it would be like on a wet day !!
I used to visit the park many years ago but had not been for a long time as heard it had gone down hill. While maybe not as good as I remember it the park is still a good day out. You get in the park for free but need to buy wrist bands or tickets for the things such as the mini train and boats etc. we took a two year old who was free on everything and loved it. Plenty of room to run around and not too much queuing for anything. The cafe not the cleanest but not enough to put you off. Plenty of parking and easy to find. The only downside are the toilet facilities which I would have to say are extremely dated although relatively clean.
Had a great day out at the park, staff were friendly and helpful and the variety of play equipment available for children was good, however the park would benefit from a play area for pre-school children as the current Shute etc. is too big for them. The big disappointment was the toilet facilities which are badly in need of an upgrade and the cafe which at best is basic, a refurb of both would almost guarantee increased revenue in the long run.
A lovely tree-filled park with lots of shrubs and plants. Big enough to enjoy a walk with proper paths for prams and wheelchairs. A great place for children with a train and a small bus going around. Great play area. A pond which you can take a paddle boat on. A café for snacks and ice cream. Plenty of places to sit for picnic too.
