my husband wanted to go here as someone had said if you love chillies, you will love this place. so off we went for a trip out. when we got there it is a small unit. we had gone at the wrong time of year. as not mush was happening, we got talking the staff there and they told us give it another month and the place will be full of chilli plants. but this did not stop us having a look around. the young lady in the shop was great. told us anything we needed to know. the items in the shop are great a good choice to pick from. but as we love chillies and heat we went a little crazy, cheese chocolate, curds ect came home with us. they also told us that we could order on line and get it sent to are home, we will be going back as they hold many day events, the afternoon tea looks great. we will be going back.
I came in knowing nothing about hydroponics other than I wanted to give it a try. The workshop was a great starter and answered all the questions I had, with Shawn a welcoming and engaging host. Now I feel ready to start growing my own and my only regret is that I didn't stick around to have lunch!
Sean, great afternoon full of information and flavour. Thank your family for the great time.Looking at a Scorpion infused Gin. Should b good
We bought this through Groupon as I love afternoon teas and my husband loves chilli so perfect for both of us but wasn't sure what to expect. We were not disappointed at all. It was little chilli (no pun intended) in the cafe next to the window in February but the chilli tasting soon warmed us up! The afternoon tea itself was lovely and a fantastic afternoon. Would highly recommend.
We were bought this as a Christmas present and we're looking forward to the experience. We were not disappointed at all. Yes it's not much more than a massive portacabin and a little chilly, excuse the pun, next to the window in February. But these are minor things and did not spoil our afternoon. The afternoon tea itself was lovely followed by a cup of sipping chocolate, which my wife waxed lyrical over. Then followed the chilli tasting session, sauces, relishes, dips and curds of varying heat levels, I can thoroughly recommend the reaper Seville orange jelly which is off the scale for heat !We were talked through the chilli family by the owner Shawn, and given samples to try from the very mild to the ferocious, and they were!A great afternoon, would recommend to any chilli lover, friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. Loved it.
Got this afternoon tea experience bought for me as a gift. What a great afternoon !! Lovely tea and the range of chille products were yummy !! We were made very welcome and I will be paying another visit. You don't have to like your chillis hot there is something for everyone. We visited in Feb so the only gripe was it was quite cold they need to turn the heating up a bit.
As a venue this place is not great - it is just a little better than a shed. The place was cold and uninviting looking like a canteen. The afternoon tea was ok but there was no atmosphere, no view, actually nothing really to sell this place as an afternoon tea venue at all.I would not go back and not recommend anyone else to for this.If you are only interested in the chilli side of looking around and trying then the place is great for that.
I absolutely LOVED this day out. Me and my partner had been bought the "Chilli Chocolate Tasting and Afternoon Tea For Two" Amazon Local voucher for Christmas and used it on Valentine's Day. Wow, just wow. I'm not chilli's biggest fan, I'll be honest, so I was a little apprehensive to try even the weakest of chillis but I was pleasantly surprised. Our host, Shaun, was amazing. He was so passionate about chillis and chilli growing that you couldn't help but be captured by the talk! We got to try several different chilli sauces and chutneys and also white, milk and dark chilli chocolate too. I have a massive sweet tooth so these really won me over! Also tried their different curds made with chilli; lemon curd with lemon drop chilli, orange curd with habanero pepper and also... Chocolate curd! Also with habanero pepper. Amazing creations. Once this was over, we sat down and had our afternoon tea which was simply delightful. Not too much so we were fit to burst but plenty of foods to try. My favourite was the hazelnut chocolate flute they had. So moreish! I also loved their chilli chocolate muffins, I will definitely be trying to recreate them! And the thick sipping chocolate at the end was simply gorgeous. We've bought the sweet chilli sauce, red onion marmalade and chocolate curd to take home with us as well as a couple of gifts for friends too. Will definitely come back in the summer for the chilli picking tour! And would LOVE to try their quesadillas!
Wasn't sure what to expect with this experience and nearly didn't book it. So glad I did, had a wonderful afternoon and would urge people to visit (even if you don't like chlli). Shaun and his family are so friendly and made everyone feel welcome. A different take on afternoon tea! We will return and look forward to picking our own in the summer.
great place with very friendly and useful staff who are passionate about their business ( and very inspiring) We go very often to purchase some homemade sauces and plants. :-)
I don't like chilli, however my partner does. This place is great for me to. Tasting, plants and a great coffee shop. Visited several times just for coffee and cake. The owners and staff are very friendly and passionate about chilli growing, it's always a pleasure. Even though I don't like chilli it's great listening to people with such passion. They deserve every award they get.
This was an amazing experience bought from Amazon local. Shawn who did the chilli tasting session was so informative and very friendly!! His wife was lovely also with all my questions. The afternoon tea was so lovely and just something a bit different from the normal afternoon teas ive been to. Would 100% go back!!
Great fun - the afternoon was delicious with the most amazing chocolate drink. Chilli tasting with Shawn was fun and informative.A great afternoon and a lovely welcome. Good food and service and fab to be able to buy the products to enjoy at home.Looking forward to the cooking experience next.
The team here are so enthusiastic passionate and knowledgable about chilis. It made for a fascinating visit . The range and selection of home made products are top quality. But the highlight for me was being able to buy a great range of chillies including my favourites, Ghost, Chocolate habanero and Naga. I was so impressed that i purchased a chilli tour for 2015 for our son in law who adores chillies
Joanna, Shawn and team gave us a lovely welcome for my Mum's 70th birhday treat, the chocolate afternoon tea, booked through Groupon. The cafe is in a simple American style with the nursery greenhouses all around. We are chilli fans and growers, so it was so nice to be able to ask the experts lots of questions, which they were more than happy to answer. Although there was a simultaneous tasting tour going on, we still got lots of attention and lots of tea top ups as we needed them. Joanne took time to explain what was in all the treats and point out the sandwiches which were less hot for my younger daughter. Although there weren't loads of sandwiches, I would say that there was an adequate amount for a good lunch, given that there were lots of very filling pastries and muffins and an ocean of tea. We all felt full afterwards. We joined in with the tastings and sampled lots of delicious chutneys and sauces and bought quite a few. We have all enjoyed these and will certainly be back for more and we would like to sample the hot menu in this very unique and friendly environment. Also bought plants at great prices. If you love chillies, you'll love this place. It's unique, a great experience for all.
