crook hall & gardens

Have had family annual membership with Crook Hall for a number of years but unfortunately now feel children are not welcome unless it's a children's themed day. Crook Hall are now shifting the emphasis to afternoon tea. Today and on our previous visit I was constantly telling the children to be quiet and, in fact, the lady on the gate told my 8 year old grandson to be quiet on our last visit when he was trying to find his sister in the maze. We won't be renewing our membership with Crook Hall and will in the future take the children to Beamish as they are welcome there any time and the annual membership isn't so costly.

Had a lovely afternoon tea with my daughters, granddaughters and mam. The staff were friendly, the tea was fantastic with lots of sandwiches, cakes and the most delicious scones. Loads of tea and coffee refills and a lovely flower posy for all the mums.well done!May I suggest afternoon tea for little girls with maybe elsa and Anna from frozen joining them to show the trainee princesses how to take tea, would be lovely and popular

We went here in the summer to outdoor Shakespeare. It's bliss. You take a picnic and drink and chairs if you want or a rug. It isn't expensive, the house itself is old and has loads of character and do visit and have lunch at the house and look round. The gardens run one into another and are spectacular.

An interesting collection of old buildings which have evolved through the centuries, set in prettily arranged gardens. Try to visit on a sunny day to gain best impact. Stay for afternoon tea. Browse the artist displays. Kids can explore hidden surprises in the gardens. Friendly staff.

Since your visit we have extended all the food areas. We have a lovely afternoon tea room with views of the cathedral. We are also nearing completion of our new visitor centre and cafe. Thank you for your kind comments. We are certainly popular for weddings. You mention children and we do cater for youngsters especially with our events. Our oldest visitor was 104 and our youngest was three days old! I am pleased you enjoyed your wander around the gardens and a glass of wine and some food. A lovely way to spend a few hours.

It was such a special occasion and I am so pleased you enjoyed the day. I was particularly interested in a wedding at this time of year as our daughter is getting married on New Years Eve - a year today here at crook hall. All the family are really excited. We were nearly fully booked by the end of October which I suppose attests to the success and popularity of our event.
