Loved the lovely walks to Clacton on Sea and Walton on the Naise but only one bar in Frinton so used car to go for a drink as Hubby wasn't too keen on that bar

1st time I have taken the time to visit & glad I did, will definitely be back again. Takes you away from it all on a nice sunny day, almost felt like I was on holiday! Never had that feeling in the UK before

I travel to Frinton at least once a month to walk my dog Koda along the sandy beach towards Walton on the Naze and then return back to the car. There is ample free parking on the residential roads along by the promenade. There are free toilets in the cafes and along the promenade. The chargeable public toilets on the green are not needed if you are organised in planning your day. The shops here have improved and there are some interesting new niknak shops along the main high street. I love looking at odds and ends and finding that unusual present. I always find that special present here in one of these odd shops. It really is a treasure trove for niknak hunters who are looking for a bargain. I enjoy the ever changing range of tea and coffee shops. There is an Indian restaurant at the end of the high street. The range of shops is varied and interesting to look at whilst strolling along the high street. This area is dog friendly. From the independent shops, cafes and walking along the promenade there is a strict code of conduct which needs to be acknowledged and adhered to as to ensure everyone's comfort here. Independent shops do not display dogs allowed/ not allowed signs. You need to politely ask the owner. I was allowed into one shop as my dog was well behaved and well trained. The next dog owner entering the same shop, was refused as her dog was a lunatic, jumping up and barking constantly and disturbing shoppers. Dog owners must not annoy others. All dog mess must be picked up and dogs need to be on leads where there are crowds. It is good manners.The area of Walton on the Naze has improved slightly since my last visit. It is still a bit ropey but the shops are starting to smarten up. I was disappointed that the cafe on the corner has closed and ceased trading but there are always other businesses to visit for lunchtime snacks. I prefer to bring my own snacks and eat whilst walking along the beach. The pier was disappointing as it clearly has had no further investment since my last visit. The tacky rides and amusements are still there, but it would be great if small businesses were encouraged to trade here. I just want to see a vibrant pier rather than this depressing underinvestment. That free entry pier should be the highlight of my visit but it was embarrassing and looked unkept and unloved.

This place is very relaxed, not a lot going on, good beach good facilities, and one of the cleanest public conveniences you'll ever find, they keep Frinton very nicely indeed.

I love Frinton beach. It's totally unspoilt by annoying fairground rides and tacky shops. (Go to Clacton or Walton for that.) The town is nearby and has lovely restaurants and boutique shops. A lovely place to walk, the sand is clean and stretches for miles.

Frinton-on-Sea is a wonderful place to visit. Excellent beaches and good parking. The pace is unhurried, the way seaside resorts used to be. It has lots of interesting shops and loads of places to eat, or just to have a cup of tea or coffee and cake.You have to pay to spend a penny, but it is worth it as the toilets are clean and accessible.

Completely perfect, after 6pm and the tides out,you can walk for miles.great photos to be taken especially heading towards the golf course

Had a lovely visit to Frinton, a walk across thr beach. The dog enjoyed a dip in the sea, horses walking along too! Kids loved it. Clean and free parking.

If you want a good old fashioned safe seaside town with a fantastic beach, easy parking and no kiss me quick hats, then its the place for you!

The weather was howling so we donned our macs and braved the wind whipping straight off the North Sea at the Frinton promenade - the sea was crashing over the sea wall as we walked first on the prom and then up on the steps . We have seen Frinton in a different light to most of the views expressed here but agree that even in the worst kind of weather it has a certain unfussy charm. Beach huts by the hundreds all the way to Walton on Naze - dog walkers leaning into the wind and all with a cheery greeting. Good old Frinton!

Had family from Canada and South Africa visiting who have been over before. As they had already done all the usual sight seeing attractions I wanted them to see another part of the UK so planned a trip to Frinton on Sea. We were lucky as it was a lovely day when we visited so had a lovely long walk along the beach. The wooden beach huts add a certain charm. The town centre is also lovely and we stopped for a lovely tea at a sweet tea shop. Well worth the visit.

I am lucky enough to live in Frinton (though I had to put a date in this review to to be able to submit it) having escaped the East end of London, and the beach is one of the gems of Frinton especially when the trippers have gone home, they find a beautiful place and leave it like a tip.... No wonder they dont allow ice cream vendors on the beach. Please if you visit leave it as you found it. The water is blueflag, the beach is immaculate, the beach huts very pretty, its quiet and peaceful.

It's so nice to visit the sea side without the obligatory amusement arcades. Frinton is serene and immaculately kept. A real change from the seasides we have visited in the past. A real jewel in the Essex crown, a short trip to Walton on the naze is easy if you fancy a bit more hustle and bustle but the massive beach and field at the top of the cliff is perfect for families that want a bit of space to play games fly kites etc without it emptying the pockets of the parents with the distractions that more common sea side resorts offer!

with dog-friendly sections - would benefit from having clearer signage on the top of the walks as it is a little confusing for visitors who are new to the area

Along with a lot of people who find themselves addicted to Frinton, the start is often quite by accident but the hold is gradual and utterly irresistible!I began going to Frinton-on-sea when my children were younger; we had little money to spare so we used a friends house in Frinton for next to nothing, found that you could hire a beach hut and to be honest the rest is history! That was 20 years ago....Frinton just gets into your blood! But what is there not to like? If you appreciate peace and quiet, a slower pace of life, old values and traditions you will love Frinton, if you like all the razzmatazz and 'kiss me quick hats' then go to Clacton instead! Visiting Frinton beach front the first thing that strikes you is its lovely grass frontage, called The Greensward. This runs above the entire stretch of Frinton's beach so you can walk from one end of Frinton to the other. Most of the other nearby seaside towns have ugly concrete walls along their sea front but with Frinton's unique Greensward your view of the sea and the beach is uninterrupted. It is wide enough to also provides a place for people to play games and picnic - especially if the tide is in. It also has a superb and extensive beautiful sandy, safe, quiet beach with more than enough huts to hire - see www.beach-huts.com and put Frinton in the search. Trust me using a beach hut, if you have never done it, makes the most fantastic holiday even better. Boiling up the kettle for a cuppa and sharing it with friends or a passer by whilst you pass the time of day, what could be better! If it rains, (or its high tide) you all bundle into the hut, play cards, boil the kettle, heat the pasties or pizzas and keep out of the rain until the clouds pass! Our unpredictable weather is probably why beach huts are quintessentially so English!Passing through its famous white railway gates, Frinton also has good shops and eating places in its main high street - Connaught Avenue. It prides itself on keeping 'the big boys out' so there are still individual shops to browse plus some good charity shops and Frinton even has its own Theatre for just six weeks in the summer holidays. Personally we like to eat at 'Fred's Cafe' for lunch when we visit. Situated in Connaught Avnue, Fred's Cafe does great reasonably priced traditional food, and all cooked by Fred himself!Frinton still has free street parking, although its busy on hot sunny summer days/ weekends when parking can be problematic. Otherwise, outside of school holidays, it is usually easy to park, either in Connaught Avenue or down by The Greensward. Visiting Walton, for evening meals and Sunday lunches, The Victory Pub has superb, reasonably priced, British traditional pub food and is very friendly, with its resident black cat, although to be honest I would never have found it without someone telling me! Do book a table though, as lots of the locals and the boating contingency come in from the Walton backwaters, especially Thursday - Sunday. Exploring the Walton backwaters by The Naze provides some good scenic walking plus there are boats that offer trips out to see the seals - if that's something you like doing. One shopping gem in Walton's High Street is Bartells - an Alladins cave of a shop, literally stuffed floor to ceiling with everything from matches to whatever the owner has managed to get cheap that week! The guy who runs it is very friendly too!Once based in Frinton you can easily explore the Essex villages - ie Dedham, with its Rose Tea Rooms and other lovely surrounding villages. Going a little further into south Suffolk there is Pin Mill with its 'Butt and Oyster' waterside pub, again lovely food with a great ambiance; looking out over the boats on the edge of the estuary, again with good walks. This is also very busy in the nice weather.So come and join the Frinton addicts! England is still a lovely place to have a holiday and Frinton is still my all-time favourite destination!
