First time visit to this old building. Very friendly reception, everything fully explained, reasonable pricing. Lots of interesting facts and spent quite some time looking round. Well worth a visit. Lost of things for Children to do

I absolutely love Gainsborough Old Hall. A super super piece of history. Not to be missed if you are a visitor to Gainsborough and if you are local I'd recommend a yearly visit at least!

Lovely setting for a Christmas craft fair with a varied selection of different crafts on sale . There were mince pies and mulled wine next to a real fire , music and ladies dancing to traditional music (tudor style) very festive indeed . All for the entrance fee of £1 .Bought several items a pine cone wreath , fabric gifts and clay items lots of genuine crafts of good quality . Only downside was a bit chilly and difficult to park nearby .

Have visited the old hall several times but had visitors from Australia during there time in England they visited Scotland London and during there weeks stay with us we visited Lincoln,York, tour of North Yorkshire and several other local places. There opinion was that the old hall was one of the best they had ever seen, They have Audio info so you can learn the history of all the rooms. Well worth a visit.

In the suburbs on the edge of Gainsborough is this amazing old building. Not just a Hall but a whole maze of rooms upstairs and downstairs which give a much better idea of late medieval life than many more famous places. The Hall itself is magnificent and the Kitchen equally interesting. Only quibble is the poor signposting in the town.

This place makes you feel like dressing in old fashion clothes and becoming part of what you see.You really do get a feeling that you were there with them in the old days and that is a compliment to the management to have made it so.The place is only small and from the outside the building leans and looks as if it could fall over at any time but of course it won'tFinish your tour with a coffee in the small but neatly placed coffee shop which is tidy and efficient and service is good.A very pleasant trip which I will remember for a long time

We saw this Hall in the English Heritage members book so thought we would 'pop in' on the way past - we stayed for 2 hours plus lunch !Roadside parking is limited to 1 hour but there is a pay and display car park close by ( 2-4 hours for £1.80 weekdays ).The hall is truly impressive and we loved the way it was 'dressed' in period times. The Great Hall was set out for a Tudor banquet and the kitchen etc. had realistic looking food in them. Going through the building we could see it in various stages of time, Tudor bedrooms, Jacobean dining room, Victorian ballroom, a room about The Mayflower, interesting family history. The café was excellent and reasonable ( pot of tea for 2 just £2 ), a slight wait for food but worth it as it came lovely and fresh, helpful and friendly girl on the counter and serving. If in the area we would definitely call in again.
