In Grimsby looking at where my old grandparents grew up in 1910's.Saw the sign for the centre and popped in for a visit.Didn't know what to expect. An experience of leaving the dockside to being thrown on a wheel house and a stormy deck of a trawler until ending up at a fish shop.It was better and more interesting than I expected. With scents and sounds and temperature changes throughout the museum.I'm guessing the old trawler docked along side will form part of the museum soon. The museum itself is not very interactive and probably needs a little bit of a update but on the whole good experience.Cafe and wifi

This is a great little museum and at £12 for the family priced just right. If you go you should do the tiger tour (the trawler) John was our guide and was fantastic. It's not a full day out by any means but well worth a visit.

Had a great day out this week at this Heritage Centre. John Grantham gave our party and excellent tour of both the Ross trawler and the museum and all the staff both at the Centre and in the café were friendly and helpful.

Many thanks for your excellent review of the centre! It was great to read. I have passed your comments on to John, your guide of the Ross Tiger, and he was pleased to see you’d enjoyed your visit. You have said in your review exactly what we hope for people to experience – to return as closely as we can get them to the tough days of Great Grimsby and the ‘World’s Premier Fishing Port’. It’s wonderful to read that that is how you felt and that you enjoyed your journey to the past with us!Our thanks again and kind regards,GFHC

Many thanks for your review of the centre! We’re thrilled that you enjoyed your tour of the ship with John, one of our ex trawlermen guides. Staff at the centre are very passionate about the history of Great Grimsby, many being related to trawlermen or are ex-trawlermen themselves! You may be interested to know that we are working on plans to introduce touch screen technology in areas of the centre, as well as introduce more to engage younger children. We are aiming to do this as carefully as possible so as not to effect the feel of the original ship interiors and recreations in the building, yet we feel this will be a great step forward into helping the centre provide a rich learning experience to all ages!Kind regards,GFHC

One of the best museums I have visited. The tour of the trawler was extremely interesting, the guide full of useful information and we had him to ourselves ! The museum itself, all the information was well presented and someone had obviously put a lot of thought on presentation. So many amazing stories and facts that brought it to life. The café was a treat, nicely set out and lovely food. Staff were very welcoming too.Great value for money.

A historical step back in time with the sounds and smells of the past. A good depiction of what life was like on board a trawler an in the old houses.

Many thanks for your kind review Annie! We are very fortunate to still have a number of ex trawlermen, as well as very passionate local heritage enthusiasts, that work with us at the centre. We want to you get as close to understanding the Great Grimsby of the 1950's as possible! We're thrilled you enjoyed your visit! Many thanks.
