Brilliant pool in summer - if you can get in. The pool is heated so if you actually want to swim lengths it's best to go when it's cloudy - on sunny days it will be very busy and hard to swim without dodging people constantly. It would have been a 5* review but getting in on a nice day is such a pain - the pool is open in 2 hour slots to the general public, with members only slots in between. You have to get there 20 mins early and queue to make sure you get in. Membership is possible but for anyone in Sheffield it is far too expensive to be worthwhile at £180!

I booked the swimming pool for my daughter's 9th birthday party. They had inflatables, (think 'it's a knock-out'), which had the kids howling with laughter! A lovely day.

The pool is great so clean and inviting yet out in.the fresh air with the hills around, great fun see you again next year, beware of expensive cafe and parking neither anything to do with the pool I am told so best bring a snack and park a few streets away or use bus/train

It is a fantastic day out! The staff are friendly and very helpful also are the other customers. The water is a perfect temperature. You need to get there early on sunny day as you can imagine it is very popular when the sun is out.Overall i would recommend this to anyone, especially for lane swimmers and families as it is great fun. It isn't voted 'Britain's Best Lido' for nothing.

Great outside pool and the cafe is a definite must before you go climbing!! Great prices for a huge breakfast!

I recently visited this outdoor swimming pool on a drizzly over cast Saturday. I visited with my 7 yr old son and my mum who observed. The whole area is smaller than it looks on the Internet but still plenty big enough. All the changing / toilet facilities were clean. There is a covered viewing area and a small grassed area. We had a wonderful time. It wasn't busy but I suspect in the holidays with lovely weather it would be very very busy. I believe at busy times you are limited on how long you can stay in.The pool was 28'C. Just about warm enough. I think perhaps a little cooler for young children. There are no slides etc but they are happy for you to have balls etc. we had so much fun, we returned the following week.

We went to hathersage, as we wanted to go somewhere where our 10 month old could enjoy a swim as well as going on a walk. We paid 12 pounds for the three of us. My dad came as well, but decided not to come in as the spectator price was 6 pounds. We found the changing rooms very dirty and inadequate for a young child. When we finally managed to get our child ready and in the pool, we had to immediately get out as the pool was freezing and our baby went blue and seemed distressed. As we left I mentioned our disapointment to staff and was told it was due to the wind and nothing to do with them.

There are few open air pools in the UK and this must be one of the best. Located on the edge of the Peak District in the small pretty village of Hathersage. The heated pool is open in winter and summer and has different sessions throughout. Some are more family friendly and others are for adults only. There are changing facilities, showers and toilets but no lockers. It was safe to leave your bag at the side. We went to an adult evening swim and it was magical to be swimming as the sun went down over the hills and the sky darkened. Very pleasant atmosphere, not too busy and the pool is divided in to 3 for different swimming abilities. On the last Friday of the month they have live music in the bandstand for the evening swim.

Never been so thought would be a nice place to visit, took 1 hr to get there. Pool was not as warm as I thought it would be but didn't help with British weather!! Very low dullClouds for first hour. Quite expensive for faults to get in. Food prices are quite good but no parking so added expensive in carpark for three hours!!! I would go back but in an afternoon as clouds seem to disappear as we left.

After trying to visit on Thursday at the end of July and being faced with queues out the door, my husband and I went after work this evening to the adult only session (Wed evenings 7.30pm-9.00pm). The pool was the perfect temperature for an evening swim in the sunshine, clean changing rooms, hot showers. A lovely evening all round- just wish we'd brought a flask for a post swim brew!

The children wanted to go swimming, which they enjoyed, but we didn't fancy forking out £6 EACH as adults to watch so ended up walking round Hathersage for a couple of hours.

Great activity for all, lovely to be in the wonderful surroundings of the peak whilst swimming. Great for the kids as it is heated although I think a certain amount of bravery is required. Plenty of room o. For picnicking plus a lovely cafe too!

Hathersage outdoor swimming pool was absolutely freezing yet at the door there is a poster saying the pool temperature is 28 degrees Celsius. Also i think that it is diabolical that you have to pay standard swimming prices for spectators. When i was there there was many young children getting out of the pool with blue lips and blue toes and fingers and the prices of food and drink they are very expensive. and changing rooms and toilets were filthy. i would not recommend this outdoor pool to anyone with young children not a great family day out !!!!

We went to the pool yesterday for the first time. It is currently school holidays and we took two children. The cost for the four of us was £16. We arrived quite early for the 10.30am session, which lasts two hours. (we paid for a three hour parking ticket, across the road from the pool, which cost £3.30.). There was already approximately 50-60 people already queuing in front of us. They started admitting people at 10.30 and the queue went down quickly. There are two sets of changing rooms alongside one edge of the pool. These were both used by both sexes. The grass areas had already been occupied by swimmers and we were fortunate to get chairs and a table. The weather was good at the time and the water temperature was said to be 28C/82F. The pool was very crowded and I felt that this was excessively so. I suppose that it's inevitable that this will be the case in the summer holidays, on fine days. There is access to cafe facilities but most people seemed to have brought their own drinks, as we did. Overall, the children loved the pool. The major downside was that it was too crowded. It also needs more seating areas and chairs. I didn't see any access for wheelchair users but there may have been some. This needs checking first if it affects your party.
