Recently visited with family and friends on a Saturday. Great little local pub, friendly locals and a lovely atmosphere.

Went here for an evening meal with friends, we chose it specifically because it allows dogs, after ordering our food and drinks (over £130 pounds worth) a barman suggested we would like to sit in the conservatory, I pointed out that we had our dogs with us but he said this was fine .After waiting a fair while for our food it finally arrived, absolutely tasteless and bland , even the lasagnes which shouldn't be hard to get that wrong. When our food was almost finished we were approached by a very unkempt scruffy woman who informed us that dogs weren't allowed in the conservatory, we explained that we had been told to take our seats here but she just wouldn't let it go , I finally said maybe she should address it with her staff rather than us. I later found out she was the landlady! So rude and unwelcoming, we shall certainly look elsewhere in future.

Popped into The Teal for lunch after a day of shopping with my partner. The service is good and it has a great atmosphere and a fantastic juke box which is a bonus for ourselves. The food was lovely and was all freshly made to order. Great local pub and will most definitely be returning.

I went to the Teal Arms on Saturday the 30th August for my friends brothers birthday. There was quite a crowd but the majority were only drinking. My friend, her partner, her Son and his partner had come up especially from Leeds. As I had just been discharged from hospital less than 24 hours earlier it was decided that we should had a meal at the Teal,My friend, her Son and his partner went about an hour earlier than myself and my friends partner as I had to wait for an electrician to come and fix an electrical fault. This being another reason to eat out as I had no power in the Kitchen. My friends Son and his partner had already ordered when we arrived, she was just sending her meal back. A steak that looked like shoe leather. We ordered our meals, it took nearly an hour for them to come and the replacement steak arrived slightly earlier. However it was just as bad as the first. My friends steak was equally as bad. She complained about both steaks and received a refund.I commented on my friends partners beef burger that the bacon seemed to look undercooked. I proceeded to eat my chicken (Covered in Cheese and BBQ sauce). I had managed to get two thirds of the way through it before I noticed that it did not taste right. I spat it out and was horrified to see that it was still RAW inside. I complained and got the brush off from the so called manager.I would certainly advise anyone to steer clear of this establishment when considering food. I'd had better in hospital the day before !!On the on the Monday after ringing my friends I discovered that three of them had been ill !!.I immediately got in touch with the local Environmental Health Officer to inspect the premises. How they dare display a food hygiene certificate of five beggars disbelieve

We went for tea for my partners uncles birthday. We was waiting over an hour for the food to find that when it came the steak was tough, tasted like it had been dipped in water & looked like a piece of shoe leather. I then sent it back and was again waiting another 30 minutes it came a bit more presentable but still tough. My partners mum ordered the same thing and couldn't it eat! We then asked for our money back although the manager was a bit hesitant. I thought the steak was bad enough to find a friend had ordered the BBQ chicken he had started eating from the thin end to find towards the thick end it was raw!! I think it is absolutely appalling how you could serve that sort of food and have a 5 for food and hygiene certificate up on the wall which it says on scores on the doors website was last inspected over two years ago. To make it worse you never even apologised to the gentleman who came to you with the chicken. However your staff was more apologetic than the manager himself!!

Decided to go for lunch with my family, walked into the dining area, as we went to sit down, there was a pile of dog excrement on the carpet, I was that disgusted I walked straight back out.

Once you have managed to get through the gang of smokers stood INSIDE the weather porch despite it NOT raining that evening you then are subjected to the foul mouthed people stood around the bar usually having a few pints after work who's use of the F word would make a Sailor blush despite children being close by in this "Family/community" pub as it's popular and understandably so at such an early hour with the good value tea time early specials. This however has its own pitfalls as some bar staff clearly devoid of either the ability to use the till or perhaps read a menu insist on charging you full price despite pointing out to them you are ordering from the blackboard or early menu.As I say unless it's necessity consider going elsewhere.

The food itself was as expected, rather nice. However the positives end there. The portions were fit for children and nothing more barely filling our plates let a lone our stomachs. I am a regular visitor to a nearby competitor, the falcon at hilton. I have experienced many lovely nights in that establishment and would heavily recommend it over the teal with its generous portion sizings and lovely staff. The pricing was poor for the food we recieved for an average meal and large meals were very over-priced. The meal came well presented especially the chips in a handy metal basket however it was simply a way to hide the fact were getting about ten chips. Lastly the service from the one member of staff that was on hand was poor to say the least. She decided to question the fact i didnt like garden peas and that i, i quote, "could have saved her money by not getting them" an establishment for food i would not reccomend

My husband had his 40th birthday party here, had an absolutely fantastic night, the food was excellent, the staff were fantastic and made the night really special - thanks guys. I would highly recommend The Teal Arms to anyone who is looking for a place to have a party. An excellent pub all round 10/10

Don't write a lot of reviews but just wanted to write a quick one on the teal. Been here a few years ago and it was ropey at best. Visited again last night with some friends and thought it was great. Great choice of drinks, warm friendly atmosphere and dog friendly. Smashing little pub

Went for a couple of drinks after work, not expecting too much not ever having been here before. We were pleasantly surprised by the real ale options and fairly large menu. Barmaid was very helpful with drinks options and food ordering, and pleasant too. When the food came we were surprised that it was all home made, very fresh and generous portions too! Great value menu for what you get. We are both vegetarian and there were at least four main course options which is rare in small pubs. Much better atmosphere than other pubs in Ingleby Barwick. We will go back for sure.

Me and my partner have been going to The Teal Arms for many years and have seen new management come and go. Since the new management and new staff have taken over The Teal Arms is becoming what it once was. A great atmosphere with friendly staff who always go that extra mile to make you feel welcome. They know many of the customers on a first name basis and ask them what they would like to see happening to make improvements to benefit all. I was coming on here to review my lunchtime visit from yesterday till I spotted the review about how appalling it is, I believe this to be a one off as I have never been made to feel like that since the change over and it's such a shame someone felt that way about their experience. Any way back to my review.... Our most recent visit was for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised (We hadn't had food there till this point with the new management), we both had a starter and main. Our food came out in a timely manner and when they came to collect the starter plates they offered to bring over more drinks rather than us have to go over to the bar during our meal. I hope the standards remain the same that I have experienced and wish them all the luck in making The Teal Arms flourish into what it was many moons ago.
